I am buying the UMW carbon fiber airbox. Yes, I installed the unit on my car. It has been on my car for ~ 2 months.

The CF unit actually uses the dual air intake. The EVO box just has the 2nd opening seal to the bottom of the lid...adds no air intake at all. Oh and no blown MAFs with the CF box (Sportec). The CF box is much more expensive BTW.

Did you see any HP gain when going with the UMW box? Has anyone ever dynoed it?

How much are the UMW boxes?

Thanks!!

If you look at WROSS decklid you will see the carbon fiber snorkel. This allows a ram air effect in bringing cold air into the airbox. The entire flat panel gets air from both sides. This will lower the intake air temps and place less of a load on your IC.

I haven't blown an MAF. The Evoms v-flow produces power you can feel. I really hate to get rid of it, but I want that carbon fiber box SO BAD.

me's think in the long run you would save monies purchasing the cf box. the evo might be cheaper up front but if you are one of the unlucky ones you will quickly spend the difference in burnt up mafs.

I have had a number of folks ask about hp gains...
1. I did not do a before and after dyno for the air box mod (I did a number of changes simultaneously)
2. I blew numerous MAFs with the V-flow (MY set-up and environment)
3. I have plenty of HP for a cab and can only say I am quite happy with the performance (the performance is definately not less than the V-flow using a butt dyno)
4. I love the look of the box
5. I wrote up a DIY for anyone that needs it
I guess if you are trying to justify this mod...you probably should go elsewhere. I would say there are a number of mods where justification has nothing to do with it, IMHO.

Love the UMW intake. Thinking of doing it myself.
Will it work with the EVO Hitachi MAF?
