Default Tilting Passenger Rear View Mirror

My passenger side rear view mirror did not tilt down when I shifted to reverse, so I had the dealer check that out. I had followed all instructions in the manual. Sure enough, the dealer said that the car had somehow "forgotten" the settings necessary for this function and the car needed to be "recalibrated". It seems to work fine now. The dealer also mentioned that the mirror adjustment selection switch on the driver's door needs to be set to the passenger mirror for this feature to work. I find this feature invaluable when parking to avoid scraping the wheels and tires on the curb.

If I remember right its tied in to how you set the seat memory when you set it to the key. You can set it to work or not work.

It is tied to the seat memory and when you set the seat memory you need to have the car on and in reverse to get the mirror to tilt down. It's in the manual under seat adjustment. T2

I had followed the manual's instructions for setting the tilt function while adjusting the seats and mirrors and setting the memory. It still did not work, apparently because the calibration had to be reset.

Mine works and tilts down when reverse gear is selected but when I deselect the reverse gear mirror stays in down position is that normal? Shouln't it lift back up to normal position? I then have to lift it back manually.

It should go back up on its own

Simon, once you drive over a certain speed, probably 5 mph, it should return to normal. Just an idea, as my S4 was the same way.

Mine didn't tilt until I set it up. Tilts back when you select out of reverse.
