"FVD-Brombacher is proud to introduce our new flash load ECU upgrade, making do-it-yourself at home ECU tuning for all late model Porsche vehicles a reality. In conjunction with our Flash load programming roll out, FVD has reduced the price our 996 turbo programming to $1,595!"
Is it US dollar or Euro? When I look at www.fvd.us the currency stated is Euro!
Best regards
Torbjörn

I'm a newbie here. So bare with my uneducated questions. But is there a significant difference between flash modification and adding an actual chip? The flash sounds great but is it something a novice can actually do?

I would not change a chip in a 996 or any modern ECU but flashing is simple if you can run a laptop and find your USB port. You can quickly change tunes just by plugging into the OBDII port in the footwell. That's much easier than chipping my old 944 Turbo. I remember pulling the ECU from under the wood panel in the passenger footwell, prying it open, separating the boards to expose the memory chip and swapping them. Flashing is definately novice work by comparison.

Any other mods neccesary?
What if any other mods are neccesary? On the X50 you stated it will hold at 1.1bar, is this stock or with aftermarket wastegates and diverter valves? I've heard stories from people that have bought chips or flashes and their cars can't physically hold the boost that the chip is trying to achieve. So this software installs on a laptop, and lets you flash the ECU through the OBDII? What parameters does it let you control or does it ask what mods you have and then it sets itself accordingly?

Hi Rhonda. Per our conversation yesterday are these numbers without
exhaust? Just flash and BMC? 05 Turbo S cab.

I have to admit that at 26K miles my spark plugs were not up to the task and it would not boost past 0.9bar without generating a check engine light. I induced an air leak that limited me to 1.0 bar when changing the plugs but once I tracked that down I had no further problems.

What if any clutch concerns will this cause with this update. Have a 2003 911 Turbo X50.
It has 30000 miles and I'm unsure how it was used before got it 8 months ago. It is Certified Porsche car with extended 2 year warranty.
Are there any concerns with the warranty and this upgrade. Will they be able to detect it?
Any more you can offer would be greatly apprieciated

I have a 2002 X50 with the FVD flash. The only other mod I have is an FVD exhaust. No changes to the DV or WG. I have never had any problem with the car at all and I track it on a regular basis. I was told by many people that the exhaust is an important part of upgrading the X50 since it should allow the turbos to spin up quicker.
one more thing, if i do decide to go for it, can i just stop @ your place & get the download or do i need an appointment, if so how much lead time do you need?
thank
M
