Default Flash

So I recently installed a flashed ECU and did not feel much difference in HP. What's up? Do I really need an exhaust to see a noticeable improvement? Have I gone wrong somewhere?

According to the company and the invoice, it said x50. Very disappointing tho.
What else have you done to yours?

Still need to install B&M, silicone F-Hose and new diverter valves.
What company did you use for your flash?

Which Flash did you installed? I am also shopping for the X50 specific version.
BTW, go with the SSK, it is great.

Call Kevin at Ultimate Motor Werks. Everyone who got his re-program from this forum has been extremely happy.

I have an Upsolute flash. Just installed it yesterday. I'm still waiting on the silicone F-Hose and new diverter valves. I'm just very disappointed thus far.

Has anyone gone woth GIAC and if so is it worth the money... I would not do the ecu upgrade until putting a new exhaust with less back pressure.

Can't speak for GIAC as I have a UMW tune, but I can say that you needn't wait for an exhaust change to enjoy the hp increase of the flash. I expect a lower restriction exhaust to free up a bit more power when I finally bolt it on, but I'm sure enjoying the added boost with the stock exhaust, and even more so the added boost at mid range revs.

Carmen: You have an 03.....doesn't flashing it void the warranty? You've still got two years left on the CPO don't you?

What does the "X50 specific" flash do...in other words...how does it differ from the others? I know we're running about 450 HP with the X50 option....so what sort of numbers are you looking for with a flash?

I have the upsolute (no x50) and could feel it very strongly (it is well stronger than a stock X50). If you are not seeing 1bar, then something else is wrong.....maybe leaky DV's or hoses. But if these stock parts are good, the aftermarket bits won't help the power at all.

I still have warranty so no flash for me yet...My local dealer will not warranty a flashed engine, which is why I went X50. There is a dealer nearby who installs GIAC though. I almost went there to install it but the X50 flash is listed with the GT2 flash which costs $1000 more??? That makes no sense other than it supposedly yields more power than a K16 and we all know power=$$$. But really how different can the programming be for the K24 versus a K16?

The FVD flash is the same price for K16 or K24 cars and it gives the X50 525hp which is higher than the GIAC (they claim you need to add an exhaust to their K24 package). I've been told a custom flash (Kevin) can also achieve that number or shift the torque curve back to give better street performance at some slight loss of upper end HP.

When I do get a flash I'll expect better spool, better part throttle response and 510 or better HP. Since I'm not going GIAC it will have to wait until my warranty runs out.

I have the UMW flash. It caused a smile from ear to ear, and a crazy giggle the first time I punched it. Call Kevin.

Folk's that have CPO's you don't have to worry about your warranty. With my programming we retain your original stock programming. It is is contained in my hand held programmer. As long as you remember to return to your stock program (15 seconds).. you can flash from performance files and back to the stock files at will.

I can vouch for that. Kevin told me to flash back to the stock program file when I went for a smog test. Took me all of 30-45 seconds, and when I got back from the test, I reflashed in my performance file. It's really easy and I am not computer savvy. Kevin, I forgot how slow the car seems without your program.
