Default Source for Rotors - Best price???

Guys, Looking at rotors with NO HOLES (Crossdrilling) and trying to find rotors at a decent price... Recommendations??? Stock 996TT sizes needed... These will mostly be track rotors...

Wow this is an old thread...

I've since moved on to a custom setup on the front with two piece rotors and 14inch rear 997 Turbo stock rotors and 996 Turbo stock calipers.

Mike, did you use the stock 4 pots or the 6 piston porsche caliper?
Which front rotors are you using? (i'm looking into PFC direct drive)
Why did you use 997 stock rear rotors? Is it a direct swap or you need to relocate your rear calipers?

The rotors are custom two piece units from Colemanracing.com and the calipers are th 6 piston GT3 units. The rear rotor is a direct swap onto the 996 turbo IF you buy the 997 rear caliper. If not, you'll have to make a 10MM spacer to space the 996 caliper out far enough to work with the 997 rotor.

Mike-
I think you and I are both former C5 vette guys, so we both know how to burn through rotors.
Now that I've got the C4S and doing occasional track days (VIR coming up 3/14-3/16), I feel like the stock turbo brakes should be more than adequate, especially since I'm on street tires. I'm using PFC 97 pads, which seemed quite good at CMP in November, though they completely covered my wheels in heavy dust.
I don't have nearly the hp you're pushing, so I'm pretty sure my stock setup will be fine, but I would like to see what choices are out there for replacement rotors using the stock calipers.
I see you're on GT3 calipers now - do you notice a big difference?

Big difference swapping to the 350MM rotor and 6 puck caliper...

Best advice I can give is to flush the fluids before each event and to flush the rotors completely down with brakefluid to get rid of all the "junk" that builds up in the rotors... There is no OEM aftermarket rotor that isn't crossdrilled for the 996 Turbo. I searched for months.

Does the GT3 350mm rotor and 6 pot caliper a direct fit on the turbo or is the offset different?
I'm asking b/c PFC makes a 350mm GT3/GT2 rotor.
If that works, I can get PFC GT3 rotors and buy some 6 pots w/ PFC 01's and i'm set!

The GT3/2 rotor is not a direct bolt up. The rotor offset is the difference. You can buy new hub/uprights for a GT2/3 and use those or you can do one of three other things:

Contact Kevin at UMW and buy his 997Turbo upgrade kit (Excellent Choice and excellent service)

Contact Suncoast and buy the Front 997Turbo upgrade kit ( You don't get the upgraded rears which are a huge plus!!!)

Contact Coleman racing, send them a rotor and have them custom make a set of front rotors for you (two piece like the units in the picture) in your size and configuration, then buy my extra GT3 caliper for $600 and that'll leave you with only having to buy one new GT3 caliper. Mine is new, but has a couple of chips in the paint. It's a driver's side unit and never been used.

This is what I have:

thanks for the info mike!
I notices you have some brake duct setup... how is it working out? Where did you source the parts?

I'm trying to figure out if I can just get the stock size PFC rotor and some good cooling solution and maybe it might be enough? Going to 350MM setup is $$$

I could not find PF rotors in the stock 320mm size, which was why I bit the bullet and jumped on the 350MM bandwagon.

The brake cooling ducts are working well... You can source the parts thru www.colemanracing.com or www.stockcarproducts.com
