Default Tiptronic Fluid WTB

Does anyone know where I can find tiptronic fluid by the liter/quart?

No one wants to break it out of the 5-gallon buckets (dealers) and let me buy just a gallon or so.

I am having problems locating this "liquid gold"!

Is this it?

Otherwise, I'd just contact Jeff at Sunset Imports (Porsche parts at cost + 15% guys). I'm sure he can get it.

It says Porsche compatible but Porsche used to use Dexron III, now it is a Porsche spec number and is traced back to Shell, Germany.

I think it is simply a synthetic ATF that supersedes Dexron III but I am afraid of compatibility issues with the clutch fibers. This is my biggest concern. I dont want to smoke the tranny due to improper fluid and clutch compatibility.

Brad I couldnt tell you, it was pretty dark but it looked reddish if I remember. It has been about a year since I saw the fluid.

I'm intrested in this as well Cory please post your progress with the fluid. I noticed your car is a NA 996 can you ask about the 996TT tip when you get in touch with someone from Porsche please.
I'm not sure if the fluid is the same for the 996 and the 996TT tip.

I am at work, I have it written down at home, I will respond once home. It was that 12-digit Porsche spec number, traced it back to Shell Germany.

I will let you know when I find out, this has been one hell of a uphill battle. I refuse to pay the dealer $500 for this hour long job.

I believe it is simply a synthetic that replaced the Dexron III of the older tips. I could be wrong, unfortunately if I am, it will cost me my tranny.

I hear you on being wrong and costing you a tranny. That's why I haven't made the plunge to doing the fluid change myself. And I like you refuse to pay the dealer $500 for an hour job, that's insane.

I know the biggest factor is the fiber clutches inside, this is the only thing I worry about the fluid not being compatible with. The seals I believe are not as sensitive to the wrong fluids, probably pretty universal thorugout most trannies.

If the tranny were to slip, it would take a full flush to decontaminate the tranny, 12qts at about $30 a piece!

I use Amsoil in some of our hard-working vehicles. They make a good product. Aside from that they offer this for the trans.

Automatic Transmission.....AE[4]
Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

Amsoil Specs

Just type in year/model and it will give the run-down then scroll down through to find the comparable Porsche Part number

Is it the filter change or the pumping back in?

Brad is correct with this.. It is a PITA.. Plus you need a PST2 to properly monitor the fluid level when refilled. The price most likely includes the filter and seal..
