Default Just picked up my Stage 2 from UMW

Kevin at Ultimate MotorWerks just installed a Stage 2 on my 2001 TT with 23K on the clock.

I went with the following options: Zero Clearance, ported/polished headers, forged bypass valves, 5 bar fuel pressure regulator, carbon fiber air box, Europipe Stage 2 silent, Valet, 92 & 100 octane file, and a waste gate kit. I consider myself extremely lucky that I was able to persuade him to do the install on my car (you can't beat getting one of the top turbo builders in the world to actually turn a wrench on your car)

While I am in the break-in phase and can't comment on the performance, I have to comment on Kevin's professionalism and passion for the highest of quality in everything he does. Kevin's exhaustive knowledge, patience (with me), attention to detail and outstanding craftsmanship are unparalleled with anything I have experienced in my 25 years of working with and in the industry.

I'm attaching some of the pictures of the install and will be following up with performance results once I can perform the worthwhile but excruciating break-in over the next 200 miles!

Hey Kevin, I wanted to thank you as well for the great perfomance stats and insight to Kevin's setup. You where a key factor in my decision!

I can't wait until your 3B is up and running

Jon, thanks alot....I had alot of fun installing my setup and writing it up....Kevin has turned out to be quite a friend...the fact he makes the best turbos around is just a bonus...I hope you get some numbers on the setup in the future, I am interested in the CF airbox and how it affects times since I didnt have it on my kit...Take care, Kevin

Jon -- Great pics! Did you stay with your stock '01 hoses, or did you upgrade them to handle the extra boost?

Alpha1, the boost hoses were very early hoses so Kevin upgraded them to the new OEM Porsche hoses with the revised ends. My understanding is that there are a lot of folks running stage 3's on OEM hoses without issue. I thought about going with aftermarket hoses but wanted to keep as stock under the lid as possible.

Jon -- Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to hearing about the "Zero Clearance" experience once you're done with the break-in. There's nothing like having the master himself work on your car!

Where does Kevin have the jack stands located at the rear of the car? I hope you don't mind my asking but my car is up on jack stands right now and I've used the normal jacking pads on the chassis to locate them.....the ones in your pictures appear to be at another point somewhere on the rear suspension?

Thanks!

Peter, I had the same kit as Jon minus the CF airbox and I got 512AWHP/565AWTQ on a Mustang dyno...that translates to about 627FWHP/695FWTQ...If you do a search under "KPG" and look for a thread "A lesson in Power under the Curve" there are posted dyno sheets and 100 rpm run logs..Kevin

Jon, it was a pleasure to work on your car. It was nice to have a car in such good shape. ie, low miles, no corrosion, and enough cosmoline for 2 cars.. Being able to build a Stage 2 Z/C kit with all the goodies was again a pleasure. This included the Europipe Stage 2 and Carbon Airbox.. BTW, have fun a "0" bar

Alpha, Porsche upgraded the hoses and reinforced the crimp/latch by applying solder to the back of the metal to reinforce the light gauge metal.

Garey, I do not put jack stands on the jack pads. The metal distorts to much. I place the stands on the section of the suspension upright supports.. You have about 4 inches to place the stands on each side. Which bears the load of the chasis.

Thanks Kevin, I will have to check this out. It may give more room and be easier to access things.

To all here. I have had Kevin's "GT1" turbo's on my car for close to three years now (2001 996TT) and they are a pleasure to drive. One day I'll upgrade to the ZC perhaps and try the programming! But the Turbo's are rock solid dudes.
