Default MAF Problem on my TT

The car was sputtering\missing when I started getting into the boost. It also felt underpowered.

I figured it might be a loose hose or something, and perhaps the MAF. We checked all the connections and everything was good to go.

Cleaning the part did not solve the problem.

So I bought a new MAF and installed it....took about 3-minutes to do the job.

Now the car runs smooth as silk and pulls strong like it is supposed to.

Just thought I'd pass it along in the event someone else has the same thing occur.

You might want to check which plugs you have?

I recommend the Bosch not Beru FR6..

Your plugs are going bad as Kevin suggest. WHen the MAF goes bad it typically goes rich. This will induce the misfiring. Normally it comes up more often with a modified car because it uses more fuel durnign enrichment. However, when the maf starts to go south the car will go rich causing the same issue when the plugs are week.

Your mileage is prime for this.

We had the car hooked up at the shop the other day. There were no faults in the system, but there was an indication that the car was running rich. I've noticed allot of black on the inside of my exhaust tips...perhaps this is also an indication of a rich mixture? Ehh, I'm a newb...whadda I know.

Kevin, the mechaninc told me the plugs are indeed the FR6.

Thanks for the feedback guys...I love learning more about my car.

Misfires until they get bad like the MAF will not throw a code.

FR6s still flame out when near the end of their life.

The Beru's do not last as long.. How did they tell you?? Did they pull one out? Shoot if you pull one, you might as well do the bank..

Yeah, it's like paying for a leakdown and the wrench doesn't put new plugs in!!!!!

drh, I guess we are kindly making a suggestion for you to change your plugs..

I't a job you could do.. It's pretty painless..

Stephen is correct, you won't get a code...

And if you do change your plugs, do not get them from the dealer, they will be the cheap Beru's..

Kevin-
I don't have a problem doing the plugs. I've been told I need to take most of the *** end off the car to do it though

Opps, the reference was to the rear bumper cover.. With that removed you can also get access to your intercoolers and give them a nice clean..
