Kevin, you are absolutely right.. In fact, there are not different standards, I believe the bench should be the manufacturers-like HP. Quoting 900HP on a 6 second dyno run is not a lie, however it represents maybe 600 Porsche horses when the car hits the road, just different way to look at ratings.

You said it above, the only difference is to apply it to a rolling run to eliminate traction issues, different RPMs off the line, suspension changes, tire pressure changes, etc.. and you get the same result. In 1st-2nd gears you hardly put load on the engine, 3rd onwards is where real boost/heat starts to eat up your performance, go up to 200mph and you will really see who has HP given the same aero.

Europeans don't drag race in general, they really have no serious experience in launching properly these cars, and the guys who own them, don't take them to the strip usually, just different culture.

Jean, we have spoke enough that you know where I stand, but it would make an interesting comparison to see some trap speeds from across the pond on these generally lower rated vehicles. Kevin

As for your Supra...it still needs the exact same Hp at the wheels to move it thru the traps at the same speed as one over here....assumming all is equal, but when is anything truly equal. How is the GT2 running with the new programming? Kevin G
No i understand what you mean

But my supra did trap 167mph with only 1067hp in the engien dyno...Maybe my numbers ar elow or your US nu,bers are sky high..

Something that are a little strange is a K16 car will max just abov 500hp here and a k24 car approx 550hp...Do you think the turbos are getting bigger when the cars are beeing shipped over the sea...

I have not tested my UMW PP yes because the snow is here now.. but kevin says approx 520-530 with exhoust, airfilter and PP...

It would be fun to see what 0elven cars would give with a exhoust, 580-600hp or what..?...damm here in Europe and in Germany the home of Porsche, above 530hp the gt2 need new turbos..

I am sure your Supra did trap 167.. which is phenomenal, but whatever power that was putting to the wheels that day would also be required over here to do the same... assuming all variables are equal. Now even if one car has 15,000hp on the dyno and the other 1067...you still need the same power to the ground to trap 167.
I agree that 500 is just about tops for a K16 and 550 is ballprk for a 24... thats why I went much bigger than a 24 on the compressor side. Kevin

I think trap speed only can give you a nice ballpark about what Hp the car has, it´s more then trap speed...But i think your car ha aprox 600-650hp..You need to put it one the engien dyno to know the exakt nr

Rickard, my friend...you just made my point for me. My Mustang dyno was 511 AWHP which is around 627 crank which is around 128.2mph trap for a car around 3760 lbs...Where is the inflated dyno numbers? You and the dyno are in agreement.Kevin

Yes you are right that the car needs the same HP to trap the same, it´s just that the dyno paper says diffrent depending on where you live...

If you speak to any of the top guys in Europe they all say the same thing. Its hard to get true numbers on a chasiss dyno with a turbo.

I agree, but this dyno is in agreement with the trap/weight/ and other numbers I have posted. Kevin

Yes on your car yes, but your car doesn`t have turbos that stop flowing air, your car has alot more mods and has alot more work done to achive the nr you got

Knowing drivetrain losses are very hard and people are always argeuning about how much it is..maybe your car only have 600hp then your trap is to high
