Ferrari 360

I used to have a 00 360 f1. The drive was unbelievable. The handling made the 996tt feel like a volkswagen. It's definitely not a car you want to drive every day though. On top of that it was the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned. It was in the shop every other week, and the ferrari techs could never seem to get anything fixed correctly. Bottom line, very cool car, but you better have time, patience and a lot of $ to deal with it.

Fortunately my experience is different from Maxwell's (sorry to hear that one...). I have the F1, and it's a weekend driver for me. I suppose I could drive it to work, but the main reason I have it is for fun driving, and commuting isn't my idea of fun, regardless of the car. I've had it on the track, and it's wonderful, but I have a Camaro for the track, and will worry much less about an accident in that.

I owned a '01 6 speed 360. It is a beautiful looking car, and there is little that compares to driving this car on a winding road with the windows down, and hear the engine and air inteke noises when you give it gas....this of course when it is not in the shop.
I took the Ferrari back 8 times for different things to be sorted out. Traded the car for a 2002 model (becuase I had ordered it like I wanted it), but I have not yet driven the car. The 2002 is currently for sale, and I got the Ferrari out of my system. Love the Porsches though.....

I noticed you have the Ferrari factory racing seats. How do you like them? and how did you decide on that instead of the Daytona's?

Well originally I was going to use it as a track car. Then I decided it was too expensive to beat up on the track, so I kept my Camaro for that, and the Ferrari became a weekend driver. That's fine, but the reason I'm hanging out over here on Rennlist is because I'm trying to learn a bit about Porsches, maybe that would be a good track car...
Anyway, the seats were of course so I could use a proper harness on the track.
By the way, it's a thrilling car to drive. Have you ever?

My experience has been the same as Dave's -- the Modena is just plain exhilarating. I've had mine for a little over 2 years and it has been very dependable. It may not be as fast as a 996TT, but it's a much more exciting car to drive -- total sensory over load.

Jack,
You mentioned that the F1 transmission was your choice when you first acquired the car. Do you still feel that way?

So are the factory bucket seats practical and comfortable for everyday use?? I've never sat in those, but I like the Daytona seats a lot.

I own a 996TT and am huge believer in the car. However, the 360 provides a whole different experience. It has better fit and finish with much better materials. The sound of the engine makes grown men weak in the knees and it is better looking. The handling is much more balanced and feels more like a slot car than the 996TT.
A great analogy is the 996TT as a broadsword and the 360 as rapier. The broadsword is not as pretty, or as fun to handle, but gets the job done and doesn't break.
Good luck.

When you took it to the shop, it was covered under warranty right? What goes wrong in the car? Motor related or fit and finish issues?
I am thinking of getting one too, but I hope its not going to spend more time at the shop.
