Question Stg 3 - FVD vs Cargraphic vs RS tuning

Anyone here who has compared FVD and Cargraphic/RS tunings stage 3 kit?

As I have understand it RS tuning develops Cargraphics kits, they are even the same hp/Nm. Who has developed FVDs kit? I've heard that RS tuning should be envolved FVDs kit also, but I don't know if it's true..

I've noticed a difference between FVD and Cargr../RS. FVD seems to use 24/24 turbos, but Cargr../RS 16/24 hybrids. That's why I wonder if there is anyone who has tested both and can say anything about the difference.

At leaste in theory the 16/24 should have a quicker response at low revs..

Right now I wonder how they compare to each other?

Many thanks!

Markski in Chicago had the FVD set-up,
K-24/26 I believe. He can chime in. Good overall set-up which ran
mid 11's in quartermile. It largely depends upon the whole package you
are talking about.

good luck.

Not too slavishly I hope

Now days Cargraphic sell only RS Tuning stuff for 996tt engines - they are the main outlet in the US. The power/torque graphs which can be found on the Cragraphic web site for the 996tt are taken directly from RS Tuning engine dyno sheets.

FVD I am unsure about, certainly they do not have an engine dyno to develop their packages. I know that FVD did get hold of some of an RS kit some time ago so maybe their packages will be "based around" the RS stuff ?

I really wouldn't get too hung up about turbo descriptions as what CG/RS describe as a K16/24 will be different to soemone else's K16/24 - RS spent many hours R&D on the engine dyno trying different turbo configurations - (they have a fairly unique relationship with KKK race department following the "Alzen" program) before signing off their kits.

Kevin's kit looks a far better proposition in the value for money stakes than FVD/RS - unless you plan on prolonged Autobahn use ?

*****, the owner of FVD, has known the owners of RS Tuning for a while. FVD has used the RS Tuning facilities for their own R&D. In the end, ALMOST all the Tuners end up in the same place getting their kits done.

FVD, RS Tuning or Cargraphic, are essentially the same base for their kits. Pricing differences are not too far off. The real extreme kits are partially out sourced . Thats when the pricing REALLY changes. With the 3 options you are looking at , you should be fine in your selection.

I must admit I'm a RS Tuning fan (see my sig) and TB is one of the responsibles for it (like Jean) and during our exchange of PM's he showed me who Reinhold Schmirler was in the Porsche industry. At the time I looked at Ruf but I also equated FVD and they seem to be up there in terms of quality and their price is around HALF price than RS with the added bonus of they supply you with a DME so you get to keep yours!!!

Thanks for all the answers!!

I was hoping to find a test on different tuners for the 996tt,
similar to the exhausttest performed by www.imagineauto.com some years ago.
I guess you can't have everything, can you.. :-)

I think I would go for Cargraphic if it weren't for the fact that I have the swedish FVD-dealer just about ½-1 hour away..
