Shank,
Sorry I should have specified that the 12.2 was with my Viper. Check my sig for the time slip,
I am not trying to be a troll, just relaying my experience that practice makes a big difference in ETs and you can't expect great numbers in the 1/4 your first time out.

Experts don't run 11.7. I haven't read one article, nor seen any review where the 996TT ran 11.7. The stock GT2 ran 11.9 according to the experts which is still nearly impossible. You said you did 12.2 - That is fantastic! Do you have a time slip? I'd like to see what your 60' time, 1/8th mi mph and trap was.

Drag racing an AWD car is pretty tough. Too much wheelspin and you lose time, too little wheelspin and you bog. If you want to see an in-car view of a near perfect AWD, launch, watch me launching at Knox Mountain Hillclimb: http://www.novustelecom.net/%7Efkassam/videos/farzaan-2.03.9-small.wmv
The 60' was a 1.67 on Kumho Victoracers. The launch is often viewed as meaningless in racing, but it can have a dramatic effect on your outcome if a dead start is involved (some roadracing, hillclimbs, auto-x).
In one of our Velocity schools last year, we set up a 60' timer to show the students how much time they might be losing due to a launch. Novice times were all over the map, some with variances of 3/10ths of a second! The 911's did very well at the 60' times with the massive traction they have.

You can read the magazines and see how fast the car is in a straight line, why abuse the driveline trying to better straight line performance numbers? Drag racing a Porsche makes no sense to me.

Just out of curiosity I also went to the drag stip a few times and ran 11.8 sec.1/4 mile @ 122.69mph. . I have stage 3 FVD upgrade. I ran my 19" rims with YOKOHAMA TIRES tires . I had 36 psi. this season I will put on the michelin pilot sport cups and run them in the low 20's (psi). this should improve my time. the 60 foot was 1.7 sec.
