Default Unchip vs. Flash program.

I just bought a 996tt and want a little more power. I'm looking at the unichip vs the flash programming and there seems to be a big price difference. Is the flash that much better or are there some negatives with the unichip. Any input would be helpful.

I wouldn't recommend the Unichip on the 996TT..

Save your money and purchase a flash loaded program for your car.

One thing to think about is, what are you "upgrade paths"..

Who will you be able to work with to provide you the next step of power, which usually means adding turbochargers.

Feel free to email me..

The car is a daily so I was just going with an intake and the chip or flash. No turbos, I just went threw an upgrade till you can't anymore faze with my last car. So what makes the chip any worse than the flash?

With the flash loader you can store upto 8 programs and you can also retain the stock program and upload it anytime you need to take your car back to the dealer.

Also if you have a change of heart and choose to upgrade your car you can also use the remaining spaces on your flash loader for the modified programs for your upgraded turbos and so on, or you can install a valet program or a high octane program etc etc.

I have one of these flash loaders and highly reccomend it as it is a good piece of kit .

You can get yours from here www.Ultimatemotorwerks.com

The Unichip is a piggyback chip that is hardwired with many trace wires soldered and spliced into your Porsche wiring harness. If you have a wire that breaks down the road, a new harness is between $2,500-3,000..

The sad thing is, yes, it cost money, but your car will be sitting at the dealership waiting for a new harness. It could take 3-6 weeks to get the part..

Putting on piggy back chips and soldering chip is old school, when one can program your ECU thru the OBD2 port. With the Pocket Loader, your ecu stays in your car, and I send you the programmer.

Why when you can purchase a Programmer with multiple programs (which includeds your stock file)and it's FedEx'd to you?

I'd listen to Kevin! He will stand behind his programmer til you get what you want. BTW Kevin, I'm in for a dyno on Tuesday so I'll send you the data logs for some additional tuning!
