many ppl are moving to ssk blindly. you REALLY should try one. NOT EVERYONE likes it. i have two cayman s, one has factory ssk (came with the car,not dealer installed) and one has standard shifter. i much much prefer the longer standard shifter both on track and on street. so, try before you commit.

Has ANYONE had luck getting the part replaced under warranty by Porsche??? My car is under warranty and they have denied it so I'm going with the upgrade instead of the stock plastic.

Well, I went with the B&M SSK and the EVO billet shift link and all I can say is WOW! The difference is night and day and I think it smooth by comparison with a MUCH shorter throw. I HIGHLY recommend this modification to those who are on the fence like I was. All it took to get me off the fence was breaking the POS plastic factory link.
BTW, my chitbag Porsche dealer (who I don't buy from anymore) who claimed no warranty issue wanted $564 to replace the "2" plastic shift linkages after they spent a whole 10 minutes looking at the shifter after they removed the shift boot. As it turns out only one linkage needed to be replaced which was only a $20 part. I purchased the B&M SSK and EVO link from BumperPlugs.com, had it overnighted and next day all installed for just a smidge over their BS quote to replace the stock crap. AVOID the Virginia Beach P-car dealer if you can, I do if it's not warranty related!
