Default Best Lightweight Battery?

I have a 2002 996tt, as preventative maintnance, I was going to change out the battery.... I am looking for something that will free up some weight.... I have looked into the braille line and also the oddsey batteries. I was just wondering if anyone has any experiance with a particular battery that they were happy with?

original battery 45 pounds, odessy PC 680 11 pounds but really only for track cars. odessy 928 16 pounds ( I'm rounding cant remember exactly check their web site) I went with the later. I put the charger on it EVERY night, and no problems. go to rennline.com for hardware to mount. free weight savings if you with use a charger.

alot of these batteries are made by the same co. I forget the family lineage. that braille sounds exactly like the PC 680. the 11 pounder may be cutting it close. what about if you leave the key in or the door or trunk open at the track, esemes will the car make it through several normal days without a charge. ever use it as a daily driver? cause I'd like to go to the lightest but even I thought that may cause more trouble than its worth.

also search this topic it has been done well previously

Might want to check into the Optima Red Top dry cell conversion. Nice and practical.

agree if you want the best battery in stock configuration the optima red is the way to go.....it does weigh 38 pounds. I lost 20 pounds of relatively high placed weight with the odessy, and no in a car like this 20 pounds doesnt matter, unless you "think" you are going faster, which I do!
