Yep, that's why I took back castrated et. al. and left in liberal. I know what I'd rather be...
There is a perfect place in California for liberals like him called TOPANGA. Where they create big yellow bumper stickers that say, "I Slow Down Thru Town, So Don't Bother Honkin"
Ever seen those stickers? Those are the people that I love to cut off on the highway.

Hamann - No offense taken. I was just trying to be funny. I guess I failed. We can now add "humorless" to the string of adjectives that are applied before the word "doctor". Well, back to my pottery. Jim

hamann, i still say, you have alot of opinions about how a porsche should be driven for a guy who doesn't even have one. i will look for your posts on the aviation boards too. oh, i forgot-everyone in south california knows that you drive the tires off of a 7 series bmw.

The AWD system in the 959 was/is ludicrously pricey. Moreover, the real advantage of AWD is not speed on a track -- it is speed on regular roads and even off-road. My GT2 was all-world on great pavement, but as soon as the road was even iffy a 575 could keep up with it thanks to the traction control. The AWD in the 959 has never been equalled in a performance car since, and I believe it never will be. It is a question of the market. As Hamann7 correctly implied: Who buys an Enzo or CGT to race on the streets? -- No one. These are track racers that can drive on the streets, so the added weight of AWD gives them little advantage, but put the CGT and the 996TT out on the Ring in the driving rain or on uneven pavement...
That being said, I am not sure the GT3 will be the ultimate Canyon-Bomber. I think that would go to a car that has PSM.

"My GT2 was all-world on great pavement"
Dean,
You used past tense in that sentence. Tell me it isn't so. First Watt, now you. What's going on here?
But in all fairness, if you did sell your GT2 a 959 is not a shabby replacement. Congrats by the way.

If you are a novice, yes... if you know how to drive a proper line, no.
PSM does not allow you to throttle steer the car or drift the car much.
As watt once said, he was faster going 7/10 in the GT2 than 10/10 in the Turbo. It ain't the power, his TT had an FVD brain in it...
I guess we will see when the GT3's come out. Watt and I are both getting one, so we will get back to you. Our impression is we will easily outhandle the Turbos in the canyons or on the track, as long as you don't get too throttle happy mid corner.

That car is one big computer hooked up to two turbos. Unfortunately, it's still a Nissan.
Dean, remember Porsche did not just dump the PSK and the electronic diff system in the 959. The 964 C4's were using a very close derivative of the same system. The problem was one of RELIABILITY, not necessarily expense. This is why they went to the more mechanical system in the 993, which is now in the 996.

Amir,
One of my TT buds said: "You like change." I do.
And last weekend, this feeling came on me... I think another car... NO! NO! Watt, don't write that cheque!!!

Emorgan,
Have you considered taking the GT2 to an autocross or a car control clinic? You can really feel the car's limit and go over it safely without damaging anything.
I did my first autocross last weekend and was able to find out how I can get PSM to kick in.
