Steve,
I have a Rotary lift in my garage, but I seldom use it to stack cars, it is used more to work on the car. Rotary makes the drive-on storage type also. I am very happy with the lift.

I just installed a www.backyardbuddy.com lift. From my research on 4 post lifts, they seem to be one of two designs. I like the locking system on the backyardbuddy lift. They have a video on their site that spells out there's vs. the others:

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me anytime.

I’m in the market for a 4 post lift as well. I’ve narrowed my search down to 4 lifts. I’m not sure if that also means 4 different manufactures (I’ve heard that Double Park makes lifts for other companies).
The Backyard Buddy video is a pretty compelling pitch.

Anyone have hands on experience with these other lifts?

Howdy,
The only negative feedback I got on lifts was the Perfect Park lift. I can't find the pictures but a guy in the Vette forum posted photos of his after it failed. One corner failed causing the lift to collapse in one corner. The car on top slid into the car next to the lift and the lift fell on the car below. It damaged all three cars in the garage!!
Ian - Yep, track only. Great track car, the best I have had. 190hp and 1700lbs. Same lap times as a stock 996TT. The best thing is that it is so light that I only replace pads once per year and I have not gone through a set of tires yet (15 track days).
Cary - No that's not my car. That's a guy in Calf who is making a kit to do that. He has said he will have the kit for quite a while now. I have a guy in the UK building me a 230hp normally asperated motor because I'm tired of waiting for the Honda solution.
Alan - Love the 340r! Wish I could get one!

The Nussbaum electromechanical lift is an excellent lift in terms of safety (as a screw lift, it always stops on a mechanical safety), the most quiet (no hydraulics or equalization cables) and with 117" posts, it'll fit in a lot of low ceiling garages.

Their mini-max arms will go down to 85mm for low clearance cars. See http://www.ultimategarage.com/minimax.html for details on the arms.

Roy,
If you are or maybe in the future serious about a 340R I could probably find one for sale for you (not on commision here, just a very active member of the 340R owner's group over here ).
Drop me a mail if you want.
And thanks by the way, they are just fantastic little cars!
Edited to say that I also know of a guy currently running one in the US (CA IIRC) that he may be interested in selling when his contract runs out and he comes back to the UK...

I have been researching a lift for the garage.I have a question for those with the drive on lift w/ 4 post. To do brake or wheel work does this lift make life any easier. It seems that you still have to use a jack to lift the wheels off of the deck. Are there any type of attachments which lift the wheels off of the deck.
For those who use a 2 post lift: do the post get in the way for ordinary garage parking? Are there any drawbacks? Which brands are the best(using ordinary 110 or 220 volts)
I am mostly interested in lifting the car to work underneath as well as being able to change wheels easily on all of our vehicles for winter and summer.
Thanks in advance for your input,
Rob

You can get a rolling jack platform for most 4 post lifts. They allow you to put a small hydralic or sissor type jack on it and lift the car. I have done that on other peoples lifts in the past and it worked well. My 4 post is for storage 99% of the time. After having it for a few weeks I'm going to order the platform for basic stuff...
Good luck.

RWO, aren't there already guys putting the vtec motor into the elise's? Isn't your setup really the same thing? That s2k motor the guy over at prototype did has got to be f'ing insane in a car that light!
I've riden in an elise a few years ago that one of my fathers friends had imported, it's what got me set on building an old mini w/ a little vtec in it.
