What HP "level" needed to surpass C6 Z06 on straightline?

I try to accomplish the 1-2 shift at ~5800-6000 on the tach. The analog tach can not keep pace with the actual engine rpm when at WOT in 1st gear. The engine's limiter takes it's reading from the crank and not the cockpit tach, and in my experience that accounts for about a 500-800 rpm difference between the two at WOT in 1st. If you ever notice the 1-2 shift not being very smooth it may be because you shifted beyond 5800-6000 rpm and were really in the edge of the limiter (with the accompanying loss of optimal acceleration).
If I'm going to do a WOT pull in 1st, I try to make sure I'm on my A-game...focused and ready for a timely crosscheck of my tach, ready to lead with the clutch and with just a very small bit of back pressure on the stick shift passing 4000-5000 rpm. I try to make the actual stick movement about as fast as I can (no problems at all with the B&M doing this).

If you're going to race another car, make sure you don't start the race in 1st gear at 3000 rpm.

I would'nt pooh pooh the Z06. Its a AWSOME car. If you compare it to a Caymann which has a similar price you can really see the value this car has. if Porsche made this car....it would be $150K.

$150K was the price of a 2005 Turbo S cab.

the zo6 is way lighter.... so the P car has to make up for it via HP..... I strongly believe tahst a stage 4 with k24s will be a good run against the zo6. I had stage 3 and stage4... along with stage 5(speed gallery).. adn I ran quite a few cars.... just my opinion.

It seems to me (from my own experience) that a very well modded TT set up for track duty is about the level of a new Z06.........still our car is heavier to stop and get going again.

search 6peed for info on tt vs z06 last i looked their was a post that linked to a corvette site find it you will feel alot better..... as far as the credit score yours is most likly higher than the corvette owner... so you win. am on the road alot ,lots of vetts very few tts.have had 6 older corvetts and will take the p car every time, although thre z06 is very tempting

Just my 2 cents...but why the hell does 0-60mph even matter...For all the talk of 0-60, I have never timed myself, and never cared....Lap time at Nurburgring is something much more interesting, or Laguna Seca...but 0-60mph....just seems so irrelevant to something as finely engineered and multi-faceted as a Porsche Turbo.

JP, couldn't agree more. Unless you put snows on as I do, 0-60 in snow might be more meaningful. In the ZO6, I'm guessing it's measured with an egg timer. Loved Longmont, by the way.AS

JP well said from someone who really knows how to appreciate the TT at its best! But gotta admit, there is always several new Z06's at all my track events and man they are a great track car, forget the 0-60 stuff they are going to tear up any track they are on!! I love driving with them, I almost feel our cars are ABOUT equal on the track. And I mean by that that I can stay with them and them with me but not much passing by either. Loads of fun though!!!!

Its hard to convince ricers that their rig sucks by quoting 'ring lap times
You have to show them the ***-end of your car and teach them to read the word TURBO

i would definitely not race a tuned Z06 from a dig. however, from a roll, you need at least the GT700 kit to beat the new Z06's that have been tuned. new Z06's trap mid 120's in the quarter mile. if you have one that is tuned, probably closer to 130 mph at the end of the quarter. So you need enough power to trap 130 mph+ to beat a new tuned Z06 from a roll. when i had my GT700 kit, the car was trapping 132 - 133 mph and Z06's were toast!
