Default EXHAUST INSULATING WRAP??

I am changing my exhaust next week. 100 cell Fabspeed cats and straight pipes, stock tips.
Would it be helpful, harmful, or not matter if I used exhaust insulation and wrapped the cats???

TIA

It would help keep some heat out from under the car.

Will it mess up or heat up the cats or be good overall? I know wrapping the headers would help but not sure if you should leave the cats alone?

Thanks gunther.

Anybody think this would be helpful or harmful?

Not a good idea to wrap the cats.. Send the exhaust out to get ceramic coated..

Tom,
What exhaust do you have on there now? The borrowed Cargraphic? I may want to buy it if so....I thought you made the switch a while ago.

Tom you can always send the headers out to Jet Hot or somewhere like that...

I read this article but still dont get it.
The first section says you get better power from keeping the headers hot, but then shows the coated ones running much colder ?
Colder is better for lifetime of the parts, but this is all about performance.
Is it just to keep the engine bay cooler ?

With an uncoated header, you lose the heat by the header radiating the energy. With a wrap, you are just holding the heat in the metal and actually not allowing it to cool. With coating, the metal does not absorb as much heat due to the coatings. This means that the energy was not transferred to the header but stayed inside where it is best used. So ceramics and coatings allow the heat to stay where it is needed, and the coated parts naturally stay cooler. Kind if a win-win. Does that make sense?

Be sure not to coat the inside of the header.
