Default Anyone running GT2 wheels?? Are they a direct fit??

Had great opportunity today to pick up brand new GT2 wheel and tire combo.
These are solid turbo twist wheels, front8.5 with 40mm offset and 235/40 tire and rear 12 INCHES!!! with same offset as our wheel 45mm, 315/30.

Will these fit our car without mods or spacers. Since both have same offset I assume extra inch is toward the inside, and looks very close to wheel well liner.

anyone know for sure or have tried this?? I love them because are solid and wide!! Just cracked my Champion motorsport wheel, I know its lighter, I'm going reliable old school.

Set up will be used on street and some DE,s. Have second set of hollow wheels with Cup tires for good events!

TIA

Thanks for the reply, is the offset not the same as the GT2 or is the fender different in the GT car. And how hard is it to "roll the rear fenders"

thanks for your reply

Hi Tom it's a little different in terms of the offset but depending upon how low you go you should be just fine. GT2 fenders are rolled from the factory in the rear and TT's are not... The other thing is that's nice is that you can run larger brakes in the front now too.

The inner fender well might get a little rubbing but I wouldn't worry about that. You can also bend back the IC bracket behind there a little to make sure your tire doesn't rub.

Alex, thanks as always for taking the time to give your expert advise. This "rolling the fender" sounds like it may go bad, do people do that routinely and can it be done without causing damage?

thanks

Any good Porsche bodyshop can roll the fenders without cracking the paint (which can sometimes happen when you try the old fashioned 'baseball bat' technique....no please don't ask).
They should have a fender rolling tool and charge you about $100 or so.

check with the tire rack, they used to rent it out the fender roller. I also have GT2 size wheels and offsets and no need for fender roll. Running about -2 camber and slightly lower than stock GT2 height. No rubbing.

Good, now I have a market for my extra set of tires and wheels, for those brave enough to risk it.

I am with Colm, I have a set of turbo twist from my 2003 GT2, in new condition (less than 1,000 miles on them) with MPS factory tires. Any offers? I am in S. Calif.

One more from the side. It should give everyone an idea of how different the offsets are and how it looks on a turbo.

Tom, while not exactly GT2 wheels, I'm running HRE's 8.5 F with 235/40 PS2 and 12" R with 315/30 PS2...and no issues. No rubbing, no need to roll fenders.

Since we are on the subject of GT2 wheels and tires, is it possible to mount the stock 315/30 18 tires from a GT2 on a stock 01 TT rear rim. Some of the other vehicles I have owned were cabable of accomodating several tire widths for a given rim width.Thanks. Kevin
