Question Clutch Chatter

Is there any way to get rid of or quiten the clutch rattle? I know with high pressure clutches there's going to be some noise, but I think mine may be excessive. Also, mine still rattles with the clutch depressed as well. Seems noisy, but the car drives fine. I'm just particular about stuff like that.

Thanks in advance...

I'm the second owner, and I believe it's stock. I don't know the original owner as I bought it through a dealer to ask about mods. I guess I'll have to take it in...

Alright gang... Just returned from the dealer regarding the supposed clutch chatter... Shop foreman said it's not the clutch - it's normal noise from the timing chains in the engine. Does that sound right? Can anyone shed some light on this, please? I'm familiar with noise from dual mas flywheels, etc, but I really don't like the "marble in the can" sound coming from my engine.

Oh yes, on a lighter note, I have a Fabspeed exhaust due in Monday...

timing chain clatter/rattle is normal at idle. although, not sure if this is the same sound as you are experiencing.

I'm running 0w40 in her right now... Should I go heavier or is that not an issue?

I just purchased a 2001 996 turbo with 26K miles. First thing I noticed was a slight "chatter" that I thought was the clutch. Took it to the dealer. Service rep knew right away it was a normal sound for the turbos. The chattering in my car is loudest at RPM just above idle and goes away at higher RPM's regardless if I have the clutch engaged. I still find it strange that this is the "normal" sound!

I was also laying under my car wondering the same thing????
It is almost as bad as the chatter made by a Carrera GT at an idle--unbelieveable!
