Question Painted front spoiler

Do any of you have stock front spoilers / lip that you've had painted body color? I really like the look but I dont know how well it will hold up with regular wear and tear. Any input is appreciated.

Sure........when I picked up my silver 4 1/2 yrs ago the 1st place it went was the body shop to paint all 6 black poly ground affect parts to car color (along with fill the holes in that front chin, fill plate holes, paint right & left louvers, remove rear bumperettes, etc, etc.

I went through several (repainted) front chins until I converted to C4s 2-3 yrs ago. Check that the body shop has experience prepping-painting that stuff.......poly-U paint & clear with flex additive.

Good luck.

FWIW, not a very good idea to cover up the holes in the spoiler as they are there to provide fresh cool air to the brake ducting.

Gregg T, are you saying that you had to switch to a C4S spoiler to get the paint to work right? Thanks for the advice.

That was discussed & considered at length (back when)........I took the leap and now been tracking this car for 4 yrs..........aside from going through rotors, I've had no issues.........really don't think I've missed those two 1" slits.

No........I had no prob w/the original chin.........just that I liked the line of C4S & thought it complimented the car's nose better.......so as soon as that car shipped 3 yrs ago, I ordered that part...........the other upside is on a very low car, it gives you a tad more clearance.
Handling......the way I have car set up, she's solid at 160 (note, significantly moded suspension).

Either chin can be hit, damaged, paint cracked........they are a consumable for this car like brakes and air filters.

I have not been so lucky, I have had overheating brake issues and have upgraded my rotors and calipers. Also added ducting, not sure which was the most effective as I did at the same time. No fun when the brakes get cooked.

I installed the C4S lip and had it painted Artic Silver, then I had 3M clear tape installed. It is the same stuff the "clear bra" is made of. In fact, I had all the black pieces painted and the 3M tape put on. You can't see the tape and it does a great job protecting them.

Sure, but i need to get someone to take pictures first. Hopefully in the next couple of days......sorry for the delay. Trust me it is the way to go, the clear bra and the painted side skiirts and rear valance. In my opinion, the car looks better all one color versus the black accented front, rear and side skirts. I have done this to all my cars. Also, I just ordered Kinesis K19r wheels and PSS9's. I should have them in three weeks and will be posting pictures then.

Hey......I'm working here

I'm pretty sure most are sick of too many pics of my cars.........but here ya go on the Turbo.......my general goal is maintain the line, keep it clean, minimum bling.
The C4s chins are cheap.........do a search here, maybe $125....I can't remember........paint is $100.

BTW, since it was mentioned, my whole front bumper is clear-bra........I'm now on 2nd application.........the 1st lasted 4 yrs & was conventional 1st gen 8 mil 3M Scotchcal (used by Ultrashield, Invinca-shield, Stongard, Xpel, Armourfend........now went with Llumar.........clearer, smoother finish....definately best for darker cars.......more flexible/formable than 3M, similer material window tinters use, more expensive than 3M or Venture.

All the cars have 3 sets of wheels.........street, track w/R compound, winter......you are seeing street & hollows for track here.......people love or hate my street HRE 544s on the Turbo.....all I say is, you have to see the car 'rolling' to appreciate (and that I've never been nuts about pretty spokes.......that draw attention away from the line of the car).

Hey Gregg T, very distinctive car....Can you tell me what you did for suspension, and what type of treatment you gave those headlights for the track...is it just tape?

hey Gregg, thx for posting the pics :P

It looks damned good with the black bottom skirts painted to match.. I will definitely try to do that after seeing how it looks on yours.

BTW, I already have C4S chin spoiler on mine.. but I want the extended Strosek one (if I can find one at a good price).
