Default Problems with Oil...I think i overfilled her!

Well, yesterday whilst backing out of my driveway slopem i got a low oil message. I got the car to level ground...checked it and had 1 bar of oil. I checked it like 10 more times as it was delivered w/ 3 bars. So i go to target get some mobil 1 and figured 2 qts would be plenty.

Check the oil again....all maxxed out!!

I checked it several more times...same thing. I guess, they've got no scale on that measure, but surely, 2 qts on a "low dipstick" shouldnt be too much.

Anyhow, what do i do?

Is it easy to remove excess oil?

2 qts is a lot!!! usually the digital mter in the dash is only the top part of your oil tank no the whole thing....If I remeber it used to only take me 1 qt + 1/4 to fill up the whole dash gauge from flashing empty to full

msindi, you are correct. what i do is add 1/2 quart when it shows 2 bars over low, this way it's never high or low.

There are 2 easy ways to drop the oil.. You can pull the drain plug on your engine.. If you have time, you can crack it open and let it dribble out, without taking the entire plug out.. If you take the plug out, you will drain 3 quarts++

You can also drain your turbocharger sump tanks..

I wouldn't risk a high oil level.. Do you have tools? This might be the time that you call your local Porsche friend that changes his oil to help you out.. Beer and Pizza supplied by you..

Using a long clean hose you can siffon out through the oil filler.

Advise you don't suck it out though use a pump if you can......mmmm yummy.

It's prolly not a great idea to drive the car. R-D-R above has prolly given the best advice. Make sure hose is clean, strong enough to not break off, narrow enough, and if it isn't easy drain from the turbo sump.

I don't recommend sticking a hose down the oil filler neck.. It isn't a straight pass, if it gets caught any plastic that gets shaved off your tube from the metal collar inside the neck, goes right into your sump tank...

If it's overfilled will it indicate above the top yellow bar?
