For a -'02 car you can retrofit the PCM1.

Moogle, I've been hearing the oppostive. I have an 03 c4s with the bose, non-nav, radio. I just recently on eBay bought the PCM 2 headunit only (just the screen unit) to try and get the factory navigation system in the car. Does it have a separate navigation module or is it all-in-one?
I can't find anyone to help me with the other parts that I need to do the retro fit.
I thought it would be pretty "cookie cutter," but I can't seem to get anyone who know what parts i need without taking about the center console.
Can you help with the parts needed and any install advice?
I would really appreicate any light you could shed. I'm lost! Thank you,

The factory NAV on our models years is complete junk mostly because Porsche was too cheap to have Navteq continue to update the maps. I believe the most recent maps available are somewhere around 2005. Not sure where you live but where I am at that is light years behind the times. I almost never use my NAV because of this simple reason. It's completely out of date.
If it were me I'd go for a Pioneer or one of the other very nice aftermarket indash NAV's. You will be much happier. A buddy of mine put one in his 996TT and it looks awesome, is touch screen, blue tooth compatible, etc..... Probably cheaper than the factory version too.
Also the NAV in my car does not have an IPOD connection that goes directly to the head unit. Nobody makes one for it. I have to use a cheesey FM modulated one.

That's exactly what i did. i recently acquired an '03 996TT x50 with all options as i wanted the nav, only to find out the nav is junk. i had it replaced (kept it of course) with a new pioneer that looks awesome and is as functional as you'd find in a lexus. if i ever sell it, i can put the original one back in if the buyer wants original. do it, you won't regret it.

oops.....I went back and read that it was a 2003.
Well you are in the clear then . It's my crappy 2002 and earlier NAV systems that don't have any updated maps or ipod integration available. Sucks for me
