Hit a deer going 60

That is most unfortunate, but could have been much worse - I hit a stag shortly after I got my license in a F250 and it came right up onto the hood, and then through the windshield into the cab, I wasn't doing 60, and I didn't kill it, so after I managed to stop, the were some tense moments (and more damage) as it freed itself.
Hitting something at 60 and it going through the windshield would have been very bad.

What scares me is them continuing to tell me that I might be on the hook for 15-20% of the repair costs since I am not using one of their shops. I will happily pay a little bit to make it right, but 10-20% of a $10k+ repair.... plus rental car fees when my 33 days of rental run out.... could add up quickly. Just a new OEM hood, bumper, and two headlights is a lot of money (both headlights are damaged beyond repair). The passenger fender is flattened on top compared to the other. I believe the deer bounced off that area, taking the headlight washer cap off, and breaking the headlight internals....plus damage to that fender.
I hit a deer in a simlar way about 15 years ago in my E46 M3. Very similar damage. Estimate at the body shop when that happened was $7k at the beginning, when all was said and done it was $15k.
If this was an accident that was my fault, I might feel different, but this was completely out of my control and happened when I was driving home a route that tried to avoid the deer.

I’m heading up to lower Baltimore early tomorrow morning. Please keep Bambi and her family up north, please and thanks!
Good luck with getting her fixed, and now would be the time to put in a GT2 bumper if it ever crossed your mind.

As others said don’t sweat it.. The ins adjuster just provided an initial estimate, which doesn’t mean much.. Once the body shop disassembles the car they will provide a detailed description of damage and replacement parts needed to your adjuster. They should then provide the supplemental payment, to your body shop.
I just went through the same thing, (luckily not the pcar).

Up here, the light and fix would be at least $6k.

This is easy 9-15K repair to be done properly with parts, labor and post covid prices. Also you can always claim loss of value and go after your insurance company. $1300 quote is a joke, these guys are crazy and scammers try to get the cheapest way possible. I also feel its your car you take it where you feel comfortable not Maaco. Mom's Rv got damaged we sent it to" their shop" and lets say repairs were **** and had to get it redone. Good luck this isnt fun but could have been worse.

I'm 99% certain OP's state, Maryland, does not recognize 1st party diminished value claims. Not many do.

You def should read your policy here. Since this is not a collision, they may have some verbiage re: DV recovery like as if it was a hit and run and the 3rd party is UNK. Very unlikely, but you should always read you policy.

Take the insurance company to small claims court for legitimate costs they refuse to cover. That is how the game is played in my area. The body shops have guided customers through the process with good results.

Yep the $1322 estimate is absolute garbage. I would love to meet the person that wrote it and ask them how they expect to fix the car with just labor. I expect when all said and done your estimate is pretty spot on. I was thinking $10-15k. I am guessing new hood, bumper, 1 or 2 headlights, fender repair, and then painting everything from the doors forward.
The body shop the car is going to only uses OEM, new parts. Their paintwork is spot on from what I have seen.
I will just need to cross my fingers I do not owe 15-20% of the total cost of the repairs like it seems everyone has told me. They really really are pushing their preferred shops. I have been in the car business for about 15 years and know better. It's worth paying a little for it to be done correctly.

UPDATE:
Got the car to the body shop today. I was worried it was not going to start after trying to unlock with the remote and it not working. Used the key and "woke" the car up and it was fine.
I did notice a pretty bad vibration at 50mph that did not exist before this accident. Not sure what could have been damaged, or it was flat spots in the tires. Car was just at the dealership for a checkup, and nothing was found that needed attention besides tires that have a little dry rot starting.
Thankfully upgrading the suspension and tires was planned before the accident but am still expecting it to be fixed to the condition it was before all this happened.
The manager said to use my 33 days of rental car coverage wisely, as he expects it to take much longer than that. Thankfully my dad is letting me borrow his car while he is away for the week. Next week it's into an Enterprise rental.
