Default Performance Upgrades

Upgrading my 2001 996 TT has become an addiction. I've got K24's, new exhaust, reprogrammed ECU, new cats, modified airbox and filter, new springs....but still I want more. What is a logical upgrade path to more power. Of course handling is also important. I'm considering the coilover route. But re performance am thinking of headers? Intercoolers? Any suggestions would be appreciated as long as street driveability isn't severely compromised.

Well since you got the bug, this is what I would do:

1. Bilstien PSS9 coilovers
2. GT2 intercoolers
3. GT1 Clutch and Flywheel
3. B&B headers

and if that is not enough, do this:

4. 3.8L conversion
5. 51mm RSR valves
6. re-program ECU for new mods

That should put you in the 700+ HP range, and set you back about $45k. But hey, you gotta pay to play!

If you wanna track KPV said the Moton clubsports are better than the PSS-9s...He posted on this recently (not sure if he did here but checkout 6speed)...
The EVO 4GT/R is also a good upgrade for more HP...New turbos, etc...

I am kinda pissed i have the PSS9's, not that they are bad, but I track the car much more than I drive it on the street. I got the Pss9's when I was driving it every day and though they are good on the street and great on the track, i would prefer the Moton's all-out track performance.

Default headers

Okay, I'll get started on that list. What kind of horsepower increase can I expect from headers and intercoolers? What gives the most bang for the buck?

Hi Mykulh:

Horsepower without a competant chassis, is not very useful except in straight lines. If you wish to take advantage of what qualities the Porsche factory designed into your car, you really should set the suspension up to match and compliment whatever HP you arrive at.

PSS-9's are fine for street usage and the Moton Clubsports are an excellent choice for any track work.

Since Moton only makes & provides shocks, its imperative that your Moton dealer/service center provides a proper matching spring package for your application and all setup, tuning information and support.

Setting up your suspension first makes certain that you have the "cart behind the horse",....

good one Orli, didn't think of that one.

Intercoolers and headers will give you a slight bit more horsepower, but I agree with Steve and Ice, do the suspension first it gives you the most bang for the buck in my opinion. Also, without a custom chip you will not realize the full potential of the upgrades, this is not the case with suspension, brakes, clutch and flywhee. I would start with those first.
