Default ball joint for a 996/911 twin turbo

I have a 911/996 2001 twin turbo with 8000 miles on it. Over the weekend the lower left ball joint sheered off. Needless to say, it messed up my car. Has anyone out there ever heard of this happening before? Porsche will not warranty because they said that I had changed the suspension to an H & R coil over suspension. Does anyone know where I can purchase a lower left ball joint assembly? Thanks

Wow, This is hard to believe. I'd be calling the regional Porsche rep and H & R in Bellingham, WA.. Was your car really lowered? I'd replace the parts with factory new from the dealer.. There aren't any aftermarket parts available..

thanks! I have already contacted the Porsche rep here in Texas. They said that they would not touch it because of the suspension. I have already contacted H & R also. They are susposed to return a call tomorrow. The car was about two inches lower than the factory. Definately not slammed. It just held the road better. Luckily, whenever this happened, I was on my street in front of my home. That morning, I had taken it out and was going about 90. Fortunately, it didn't break then or I wouldn't be here. We put it on a floor jack and backed into the garage about 200 feet. It messed up my left fender and my HRE rims. I found the nut in the street. It looked like it was a "weak cast" from the factory. I intend to replace the ball joint with a new factory oem product. Porsche said that they have never heard of this happening before. If anyone else out there has heard of this before, I would like to know. Lowering should not have put any more stress on that bolt.
