2005 Turbo S Performance

It's hard to improve 0-60 in a tt with first gear being so low. A disproportionate amount of time is spent between 0-38 in first gear which is largely dependent on launch conditions (tires and pavement) and the 1-2 shift. It would be much clearer if the cars had a single gear which allowed acceleration to 60 (such as the new Ford GT). Top speed is probably rpm limited, not hp limited. AS

I can't remember where, but I know in the past day I've read about the Turbo S doing 0-60 in 4.2 sec.

Autocar in the UK tested the TTX50 last month ..0 - 60 in 3.8 secs, they said it's ride, handling, steering, brakes and performance(not to mention fuel consumption) was better than the Aston Martin DB9, but the DB9 was the better car as it was so stylish with a neat interior.....what a load of crap

Donny - The British magazines are a great source of impartial information about cars ... unless the car in question is British. If they compare a Jag, Mercedes and BMW, you can bet the Jag will win. Nothing is perfect

I ran with a bunch of modified TT's one weekend. I had no problem keeping up with any of them on short bursts up to 60-70mph. However, keep the pedal down much past 70-80mph and the TT will eventualy walk away from the GT3. Amazing what all that torque can do...

I ran a X50 Tiptronic from 80mph to 150mph on my car about 2 weeks ago. Both cars were dead even.
The fastest Porsche I have seen running the 1/4 mile did a 12.27 on a cold November day in 2002 at Englishtown, NJ. It was Porsche day at that place. Car was a black TT X50 Tiptronic, and he got 1st place after all the bracket drag racing was over.
I ran a 12.261 at the same place on May 22nd, 2004. It was a hot and humid day (79 degrees and 82% Humidity). First time in the drag strip with the new car. It was before the exhaust, air filter mods and when the car was 100 lbs heavier.
Weight is the enemy.

Weight is the enemy.
In the quarter mile, a 200 lb savings is worth (only) about a tenth of a second.

Braket racing a Porsche? Dont you think that is a bit of a waste of all the suspension and brake technology you purchased with that car?

996Racer:
That was an event organized by NNJ-PCA. Believe me, they do more track events and auto-x than any other PCA chapter. A lot of work on suspension and brakes.

BTW, I haven't seen your car at the track or auto-x.
