Three Wheelin'
Lets try 5 laps at Laguna Seca and see how the tesla does. I followed a p100? through a very windy mountain road. It just kept squirting out ahead as we left every corner and then i would reel it back in braking and turning. We stayed pretty even for the 5-6 miles we were dicing. It quite possibly was a matter of confidence as most windy road street encounters are. There was a beat 1/2 ton chevy PU with 3 people in the cab that i could not keep up with on the same road once, definitely a matter of confidence there, not performance. I backed off because i did not want to encourage them by trying to keep up.

I'm probably going to buy a Plaid soon. I was in a P90D performance and it was brutally fast. Plaid must be amazing. It's 2022, technology has advanced, but the analog mechanical feel of a 996 will always be a pleasure to drive.

I have yet to run into a P100 or plaid while in my 996, but just today I pulled hard on a model Y at lower speed. It was matte black so I assume it was the faster version, if there is one. It's hard to know what you're up against with these things because they all look the same. The plaid is 1000hp so I'm sure it would blow me away at anything below 60-100mph, but at 600whp and 3300lbs vs 1000whp and 4800lbs it probably wouldn't be tooo embarrassing at higher speed. The IMS850 cars take the plaid in roll races. I have also driven the small tesla and the model y, and was not blown away with the power.

I was not aware the Plaid was rated at 1000hp, that is one helluva lot of electrons.

Yea they are ridiculously fast. I'm pretty sure that's 1000hp to the wheels also. I'd love to drive one around for a week to try it out, but could not imagine spending money on an electric car personally.

I saw a video of one going up against a 991TTs and it just walked away.
The lesser ones it appears, will not do that.

I just bought a 2022 model 3 performance (in December). It is faster than my tuned 911tt (996). It is the weirdest exprience while in the car. This unrelenting torque, that is nearly silent… its like a space ship.
I am not up too speed on your modifications, but I suspect you did not race a performance edition. I can still beat the 2020 and older tesla’s non-performance. But the 2020+ performance version (of the model 3, Model S) will beat me each time while in my 911. The model Y is a closer race just given it is bigger and heavier, but it really depends on who has better traction control on some of the pitted roads here.
The Tesla has really changed for me what the driving experience “should be”. I love the 911 for so many reasons, and its weird to say its not the fastest car in the garage anymore. the roar of the engine, the vibration you get at a light, there are so many senses that are muted in the Tesla. But, the Tesla also has track mode - change up wheel spin, regenerative breaking amounts, reduce heat soak, etc. I have not compared lap times, but the Model 3 performance (and likely the plaid) is just fast, all around.

Car is an X50, cranked up to the maximum the K24s will flow, somewhere around 575hp. The gearbox is a CMS unit.
The 996 is not the fastest thing in my garage, it never has been, but, it is most certainly the love of my life. With that, the fastest out of the box, off the floor car I have ever driven is the 991TTs - the thing is an appliance, in the right hands, it is untouchable.
As noted above, I can say with confidence that the Tesla referenced in this thread was not a super fancy one, or I would have most certainly worn it. I have not driven a Plaid, or likely not even seen one, but I had no idea it was a 1000hp/whp thing, so now I am admittedly curious; curious enough to seek out one to try it.
This, in no way means that, I am bowing to the Electron Overlords, rather, it means that the appropriate research has to be conducted to validate the science.
