A question for those who own a Tesla...
One of the most fantastic things about coming into the office at 0400 is the decided lack of traffic on the road, which in turn makes for a rather spirited drive, especially when it is dry, like this morning.
Pulling up to a light, and beside a Tesla this AM, I didn't really think much of it - most folks out at this time here are still waking up - until of course, he shot off the line (perhaps I was waking up too). The light interval was short, and he most certainly got the hole-shot on me, so as we pulled up to the next light, I could see it wasn't the little Tesla, and I didn't see any markings on it that suggested it was a Plaid, but this time I was ready.
As the light staged yellow, he was rolling forward and I was sitting at about 3k rpm when I dropped the clutch. It seemed to me that he had the advantage initially, but by the time I hit second, I was pulling away, and by third he was several car lengths behind me.
I was under the impression that a Tesla, with its immediate and instant torque, traction management system, point, press and forget mentality, would have beaten anything at anytime. As this was not the case, and I am curious to know why and if any of you fellas who own Teslas could tell me if he gave up and/or, if he should have just walked away from me.
Cheers,

Maybe the other driver backed off.

I dunno. Lots depends on the driver. Teslas are quick, but, I think performance wise our cars can still hang.
Course most of us also have had driver education...

I wondered that, but it wasn't like I was 'walking' away, he was still there, just behind. It also wasn't like we were eclipsing warp factor speeds either.
Do you know how to tell if it has two motors or just one? Or, do they all have two motors?

I do not have anything near the amount of time on a track as some of the guys here do, my driving, when not in the city, is typically highway/mountains/plains, and once you get to the plains, there really isn't much of a challenge anymore.

Maybe the Tesla driver was being prudent regarding just how far they would go in street racing.
And who cares if the Tesla can accelerate faster. If accelerating faster is what you're after then buy a Tesla.

I will not bow to the Electron Overlords.
It was just a curiosity to me as I expected to instant on torque to be stronger, nothing more.

Tesla's also have a ton of heat soak, so subsequent pulls might lose power vs. the initial one (one of the things that makes the Taycan technology so much better).

But was he enjoying that delicious roar, like you were? They are rockets, very linear in torque delivery and almost scary fast. Heat soak is one issue, another may have been where he was with juice, though would expect fully charged for a 4a drive to work. I can't say I will never own one, but I can say it will never replace my dino chugging machines. Sounds like a great start to Friday!

No, I do not particularly care, but as I said, it was a curiosity to me as this was the first time it ever has happened, and when new things happen that have never happened before, I become curious.
