Can you rotate the top of the link 180 degrees and mount it with knuckle on the other side? So it would be on the left in the photo.

Hmm, interesting thought. I'll ask to see if that might solve the contact issue. I haven't been too successful googling around for clearer pictures of how that link should be installed.

I.e. link shaft in the middle of the clamp?

You might to flip both the top and bottom of the drop link to the other side of their mounting points.

No, flip the entire drop link to the other side of the mounts.

That would look like the bend is going the right way at least.

Default PCCM+ Installed

Well after a long 2 weeks of waiting on parts, the PCCM+ is finally installed. The dealer had to use the black trim piece as a temporary hold over since it'll be a whopping 51 weeks before the matching leather wrapped Natural Brown Leather bezel will be arriving. Not ideal to have this one piece be the only non-leather wrapped part of the whole dash but it is what it is.

Details about the stereo that was in the car:
2001 996TT
CDR-220 headunit
Non-Bose HiFi stereo with Nokia DSP (This post has some detail on it: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...l#post16590606)
OEM amplifier

For the most part, the tech said that it was a straight forward install. There was a small box that that I guess was the Nokia DSP that was tucked up behind the dash from what I could only assume was a previous install. The tech said that without that unit plugged in, there was no sound coming out of the speakers from the PCCM+. The tech left the DSP plugged in and tucked behind the dash where it was found.

I was worried about the volume/gain and hissing issues that others in the PCCM+ install thread noted so I was mentally prepared to have to order more parts to address those issues. I was pleasantly surprised that when I started testing it out in the dealer lot, there was no hissing or alternator wine, nor was there any issue with the volume/gain. I was able to turn the volume up to 19 and it sounded much much better than the previous stereo that was there.

The Android Auto was very simple to set up and I tested out the hands free calling which sounded great (voice on the other end sounded good from what I'm told). I did play with the EQ settings a bit and turned the Loudness button on the radio off to get the sound where I liked.

I have not received the final bill for the install and parts yet as I still need to go back for a torn CV boot and height sensor but it feels good to have some modern amenities and OEM look in this 20 year old car.

Including a picture of the mismatched bezel for opinions (Natural Brown Leather part number for bezel: 99655296909T12)

And the Nokia DSP box (pic copied from another thread):

That looks very good, factory fit and finish as it were. I went with a Pioneer unit when my factory PCM started read 1200AM 24/7, and the date was indicating it was always January 1st 2000. This option wasn't available at the time mine died, which is a pity.

I very much like how it provides an updated look, but still flows with the lines of the car.

Saturday project:

The Rennline phone mount is nice and all but I also like my mechanical watches. There is a big magnet in the Rennline mount that would absolutely screw up a mechanical watch so I took the Rennline apart and made an adapter so I could mount a ProClip mount to it instead of using the magnet. I think it came out alright and cleaned up the cockpit a little more.

I have the Rennline phone mount and wear nothing but mechanical watches, nothing has ever gone out of sync due to the magnet in the mount - this includes a constant in car drive for over 13 hours this last season.

The rennline mount is very slim, looks very good.

It is moreso that my passenger also wears a mechanical watch and her left wrist gets a lot closer to that magnet than my left wrist. I've had to demagnatize her watch several times until we realized that the purse she used to use had a magnet in the clasp.

Gotcha, for what it's worth, my ex also wore mechanical watches and we never had an issue with hers either...

Sounds like a good excuse to pick up a Rolex Milgauss.

Not a fan of Rolex watches. If I could ever get my mind around wearing $30k on my wrist, I would probably go for one of these:
