Turns out that the source of the clunk was much much worse than anticipated:
With that fixed and the other top mount replaced, the car drives so much better and feels more planted. The diverter valves and a check valve were also replaced and now the car is making 1-1.2 bar and pulls like I have all the power back. Ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires that I hope are here by the weekend so I can get the car inspected.
Got the 235/35/19 front and 295/30/19 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires mounted and took her for a spin. With the clunking fixed, new alignment, new tires, and fixed boost leak, the car is completely transformed! Feels so much better and sorted. Now time to just keep driving it and get fluid change before summer.
Made it almost a month w/o issue. Took the car to get inspected yesterday (it passed) and on the way home I noticed that it was only making .4-.5 bar of boost so another boost leak to try and fix
Awesome car and thread! I'll be watching this thread closely as I'm pretty much a few steps behind you with my 01 TT. Also love mechanical watches...especially oyster steel
Where did you find the part and part number for the "horse shoe" vent and radio trim pieces? I currently have (broken) dark burl wood trim that I want to replace with black plastic or leather to get rid of the wood.
Thanks,
Brian

The part number for the natural brown version of the horseshoe is: 99655296909T12. I called my local porsche dealer and work with them to confirm that the part number was in fact for the natural brown version of the horseshoe. You could try starting with that part number and seeing if they could get you the part number for the material you want. Just a heads up if you do decide to order it in any sort of leather, it is about 12-13 month wait for it to arrive.

I'll try using your PN and see what I can find. Man, everything seems to be 12+ months wait these days! Maybe I'll just wait until I'm ready to do the PCCM+, too. Thanks!
Been driving around with the FVD PSS9s set at 6F/4R for a while. I noticed that I get a little bit of pogo like tendencies so I'm going to try running 4F/2R to see if that helps at all. Since I don't know the mileage on these coilovers, if the car still doesn't feel right, it might be time to start shopping for a new suspension set up.
So working towards a more sorted (IMO) car I've decided to tackle upgrading the suspension. I do not know when if ever the FVD PSS9s were ever rebuild so I'm planning on replacing them. After reading through this site, 6speedonline, and Tarrett's suspension builder I feel like this is what I am leaning towards for an almost entirely street/canyon/hill country car. @powderhound I really appreciated all your posts across the various forums which helped me get to this setup:
Ohlins R&T coilovers 400lbs front springs 686lbs rear(wanted JRZ but they're just not in the cards for me)
Tarrett GT3 Front/Rear swaybars
Tarrett Front/Rear drop links for the Ohlins
Tarrett Rear control arm
Tarrett Toe link lock kit
Replace any worn bushings found during install
Based on the threads recently around cracked lines in the fuel pump assembly I'm planning to have that replaced with new OEM
The front diff and transmission fluid have no record of ever being changed so that would get done as well as the car is now at ~52k
Goal is to be able to safely/reliably take the car on a road trip in far west Texas soon.
Swung by the local RackAttack vendor to test fit a Thule Vector roof box for more road trip options. At the moment, they only had the Vector Alpine available for test fitting but at least it confirmed that the Vector M would for sure fit since it is a little shorter. The roof rack is the OEM Roof Transport System.
I tried first as roof bars the Thule WingBar Edge 9583 L.
It was less noisy than the Porsche roof bars, but they didn't made an horizontal plan.
So it was perfect for skis, snowboards, bikes, but not for a roof top that need to be at a perfect horizontal plan.
It was just a little bit noisy at 130km/h, no difference of confort if nothing can move into the roof top, and increased the fuel consumption of more or less 1.5L/100km.
And a lot of people will do strange faces or will take some pictures when you 'll drive with a roof top on your TT.
