Default Fuel Filling Issue

Folks,

I know there has been a number of threads about issues with fuel filling. Most conclude that the issue relates to a blown fuse E6..... I am having an issue. My E6 fuse looks good, and when I press the aluminum flap / gate in the filler I can hear the Vent Valve opening, but I am still experiencing an issue with the filler cutting off after 0.25 gallons.... If I am patient, I can get a full tank in, but would love some recommendations on what to check next after fuse E6 and the operation of the vent valve ?

Thanks in advance, Andy

Even thought he fuse "looks" good doesn't mean it is, replace it.

There is a fuse associated with fuel filling? I usually inverted the fuel pump handle to make it work.

You shouldn't need to invert the fuel nozzle to get it to work.

I figured it was a Canadian thing - the moment any back pressure is detected, the auto overfill function clicks the pump off, super irritating, so I typically rotate the nozzle until it stops doing that, usually ending up in an inverted manner.

This topic was discussed in a thread here in the last yer or so (don't remember the thread title.)

Thanks, I do recall that - interestingly, the last time I was in Washington before all hell broke loose in the new year, I filled up in Blaine on my way north and had no issue.

For some reason rotating the fuel filler to 3:00 position (ie a quarter turn clockwise from normal) mostly alleviated filling issues on mine.

^ agree. It's a strange quirk but i also need to rotate the nozzle to completely fill up.

i can leave it filling on "auto" until it clicks off, but then have to manually squeeze in the last cpl gals.
this after recently replacing my fuel vent line thing. before replacment it wouldn't allow any fuel in and i also heard the "flap" opening.

I have the nozzle at 9 o'clock to fill mine. I had no idea about the fuse, I'll check that. What I don't like is the low fuel light comes on and maybe I can put 11ish gallons in. Manual says the tank is 16.5 gallons, seems like it's more around 13-14 to me... Has anyone really run the tank down and gotten 15+ gallons in it?

I have managed to squeeze just over sixty liters in. Not sure the exact volume in gallons, but it will be close.

Due to the design of the tank the float doesn't go to the bottom, so fuel remaining is estimated once the float reaches its limit.

I filled up this morning with the handle positioned straight up (12 o'clock position) and was able to get more of a complete fill than the usual 6 o'clock lazy position.

Usually after I fill up, the fuel gauge indicator is just below the 4/4 hash mark, but using today's position the indicator is just above the 4/4 hash mark.

Now if I can just convince my wife that today is the right day to try new positions...
