Gearbox pop !!!
Latest issue
I have a temperamental 1st gear on my car at certain times it decides to pop back into neutral.
After research I have found the common issue with the clutch slave cylinder.
When i was inspecting the slave cylinder there was zero oil around the cylinder ?
However when I was inspecting the cylinder I did notice an oil leak from the box itself it looks like one of the gear select arms ?
Here's the video i made :

Any help appreciated

When I first bought the car I’d sometimes not fully engaged in 1st. Felt like it was seated but would pop out as soon as the clutch made contact. Was just operator error on my part (and a bit of blame on Porsche for the shifter feel).
Beyond that, this could be shifter/cable issues needing some work or worn parts in your gear box. The shift arm leak seems somewhat common and can only be replaced by opening up the gearbox.

Check the output shaft for the front drive for end play. If there is perceptible movement then the pinion bearing has failed and the trans will need a rebuild.
This is the only reason for popping out of 1st gear that I have seen.

could also be rounding of the dogring of the 1st gear triple cone synchro. that's what happens to 1&2 synchros to allow 2nd gear pop. if it is a bad 1st gear synchro then that also is a labor intensive fix.
if you are "lucky" it will only be a linkage issue. i doubt it has anything to do with the slave but that YT clip the parts looked loose as a goose. so, maybe.

Here's my power steering fluid level ( picture attachment )
Could this confirm that the slave cylinder is busted ??
Due to the lack of fluid ?
I do have a fluid leak behind front right hand side wheel.

that ain't right. if the slave master ( is this language still legal? ) cyl is leaking check the reservoir for fluid and it can also migrate into the cabin under the steering column. it's drivers side. can't imagine what could be leaking on the right side unless it was a radiator? but of course that's not pentosin
i've never seen pentosin that low on the stick before.

Or that color - looks a wee bit dark.
I think you can use that language if you are referring to yourself...

I decided to check my gearbox oil I thought that would be a good way to eliminate other issues (should of started there)
Bad news I'm afraid there are fragments of metal in the oil.
The sump plugs is covered with metal
Is this a definitive gearbox rebuild job ??

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my drain fill plug looked similar when I was having intermittent issues going into first gear.
I ended up having to rebuild the box. On the bright side, it was worth every penny, as spendy as it was.

I would do all of them - if you're in there, might as well do it right so you don't have to pull it again later.
