dash lights

Turn on your headlights and turn/rotate the **** that is to the upper left of the tachometer clockwise. Do not pushing it in, just rotated it clockwise and hold it there. The dash lights should get brighter.

Well, not so fast😕 The dash lights do come on but only for a couple of minutes and then go off. Turning the headlights off and on does not get the dash lights to come back on Only way hey seems to come back on is after leaving the lights off for an extended period. I tried the dimmer control and it only worked once I am beginning to think I am having a significant electrical problem beginning I appreciate all the help!

So my gauges and dash lights work fine —except the oil pressure ‘needle’ light. So it’s not visible at night.
Am I looking at pulling the dash and replacing the needle/bulb, entire gauge/cluster or is there a work around?
thanks
