The wife of one of my good friends just got a new Merc SUV...I think a GLE350 or 450, with the "AMG package." She legitimately thinks she is driving an AMG car. My wife won't let me break it to her.

That's not true. For example, the top 911 model is the GT 2 RS, and that car is not called "Turbo". And it doesn't have "turbo" on the back either.

These aren't limited product cars. Porsche will make as many as people will buy. Just watch and see.

 

Porsche is cannibalizing its good name(s) for a sales/marketing gimmick.

I am a huge fan of the Taycan. I don’t think I will sell my Model S for it anytime soon since Tesla has so much more going for it than just HP and launch control. Call me crazy, but I cannot wait to see an all electric 911. The writing is in the wall. The Turbo name is stupid though.

my grandfather used to say things like that when i was watching the Jetsons as a kid....still nothing. Thank goodness.

But an all electric car that LOOKs like, badged like a sports car? but with no sounds? kinda like
non-alcoholic beer, why?
tofu shaped like a hamburger? why?
carbon fiber / wood grain vinyl wraps...why?
faux exhaust ports on a civic, why?

Anyway, thank goodness for the perpetually greedy big oil companies who will not let everything go electric anytime soon.

I get it, I am a Porsche Fan boy, I want several in my stable (don’t have several though, lol), but we are in the sunset of the ICE era. Onward and upwards. Nothing stays the same.

 

I hear ya...my stable has 1! Hopefully you can spread your thought process to some of these 997 GT3 owners I want one of those smelly, stinky, loud, environmentally bad cars. I'll take the moral hit...happily.
