I change my oil every 5k. Even my new truck calls for like 10k changes now, but I feel better doing 5k. Plus diesels make oil nasty real quick.
You must not remember how long it took to kill the 3,000 mile oil change mantra

BTW, the spray gun guy wouldn't have product to spray without the chemist.

The difference here is you're referring back to articles you read on the internet and I speak from real world education and experience.

Right academic books and articles are useless. I wonder how I got through college reading them.

Alot of that goes back to Dino oil before synthetics were around. Not totally baseless on 3k changes. But advancements in oils have helped tremendously to add to the intervals. IMO I believe dealer incentives for free servicing also has contributed to the longer interval oil changes as they don't want to spend the money so they have stretched them as far as they can. Most vehicles today are coming with maintenance plans. So the two are not totally analogous.

Again, today you're quoting random articles from strangers on the internet . I have real world experience and education in the field. But you're still pushing a point lol.

Now you may be beginning to get it. Thank the chemists for the new oil... synthetic. Old opinions can be slow to die, even after there is ample evidence to kill them off. So advances in paint, thanks to chemists and not the guy with the spray gun, have had the same effect on paint as the chemical advances in oil; they have both been improved by guys with chemistry degrees. We can now safely go WAY beyond 3,000 miles between oil changes, and we can apply wax within days (or hours) after applying the last clear coat. It's all about advances in science.

Thank the guys with the degree, not the guys in the paint booth.

LOL you're still wrong. How are you even comparing oil here? Why are you comparing oil? Stick to the topic, no need to stray elsewhere. I've worked in many shops. I've been educated. I've never, ever heard someone, including the people who make the stuff agree with you. How's that? I'll trust the people who do this for a living and not the Dock. I've been beginning to get it. Maybe you need to get it. There's literally many more people who think otherwise. Where's your phd? When is the last time you painted something using a 2k clearcoat?

I'm getting tired. Same time and place tomorrow Dock? LOL. We've sailed this ship far enough tonight. Maybe we can talk politics tomorrow?

I'd love to discuss politics, but they frown on that on this forum.

The oil angle relates directly to how hard it is to get people to give up on things that no longer apply.

I just talked to Xpel and they told me to allow the paint to cure 30 days (may vary depending on temperature and humidity) before applying ppf.
