parts are based on the euro rate. my iniial pricing new was when i needed to buy one. i looked it up today and that is the current pricing. even at 1000$ its still an expensive part
I wanted to follow up on my repair. I have had the water pump housing removed and welded. Also replaced water pump and thermostat. I will report back when I receive the car and have a chance to drive it. Thanks to all who gave advice and replied to my thread.
I’m having all of mine done right now along with new while you are there items to include water pump, expansion tank, hydraulic assist, mounts, suspension bits, BBI rollbar, 4.0 clutch system... adds up fast! One of my previous 996tt cars popped a waterline far from home and sent a car behind me off the road- these can be dangerous when they let go so I insist on getting them taken care of especially for spirited driving.

Wow, 32krazy that's the piece. So those are the leaky fittings everyone talks about. I'm going to have is looked at hopefully this week if weather cooperates. Was recommended to IN Motion Motorsports in Ma, by another Porsche owner. Not sure how this will be repaired yet, does this have to be engine out? Couple pics of my new ride.

As to the Persian rug: my grandfather bought the complete 3 pc set for my grandmother in 1923 for their newly built home as a wedding present. I ended up with the the second largest size. He might not like what I've done with it over the years but I keep it very clean. It has been moved around my garage as needed. I can't bring myself to getting rid of it and kind of looks cool usually as a center piece forward in my garage under a 2 post lift.
As to my car, I got it back yesterday all fixed. The cast aluminum water pump assy was welded. While it was off the car I asked that the water pump, thermostat, and serpentine belt be replaced. Water pump impeller looked fine at 37k miles but, when spun by hand you could feel the bearing wasn't smooth. Glad to be back on the road and learning about my new ride. Thanks to all for following and giving feedback. By the way, the mechanic told me he has a bracket or tool? that mounts to the engine to guide it and support the back engine mount so this was not an engine out repair. Still around 10 hours approx for this. Really hit it off with the owner and mechanic at In Motion Motorsport in Seekonk, Ma so hope it's ok to give them some appreciation here. Fair and honest guys. Also car guys.
i would never weld the coolant lines, what a waste of money. Just pin them and be done with it. if you show evidence of seapage just pop it out and jb weld the bitch and pin it. the glue they use is still a sealant.
woof-187 This had nothing to do with coolant lines.. Bottom of water pump assembly got nicked during transport. While my car was being fixed a 996 cabrio was being repaired for crushed oil pan? This also happened during transport. Go figure!
