i think it completely depends on the wheel style... I know it doesn't help much but I would suggest narrowing down to 5-6 of your top pics that you know have the correct size / offset, then bring here for discussion
I'm more of a deep lip kind of guy, with classic 'mesh' face. But, a nice 5,6,10 spoke with good concavity, also looks good.
I just hate the run-of-the-mill wheels that have a fake lip / concavity. Also, NOT a fan of black wheels unless on a black car... even then, I think that ship has sailed...

Yep - and I know chassis dynamics have come a long way, but it seems like a 20-21 inch wheel on these cars would result in a punishing ride. I love the 18s on my 996TT - I think they look right and the ride and handling are great.

And there's the kettle calling the pot black.

I've gone from 18 to 19 and back to 18. As have many others.
In the world of 18" wheel alternatives for our cars, there are very few options. And I'm not aware of any 18" concave options in quality wheels.
So there are a couple decisions here: deal with the limited 18" selection or go for larger diameter wheels and have a choice of configurations.

Thanks for the point out.
My point was regarding sentence structure; something that proofreading stands a chance of catching. Spell check missing people's intention is one thing, but a post that is missing words and/or has little or no punctuation is IMO another level. One of these I can quickly figure out, while the other requires time attempting to fill in the blank, or leaves me scratching my head looking for a reasonable answer.
