There are a couple of good solutions out there for fixing a dead wing. The eRam Kit completely replaces the entire hydraulic system - retaining full functionality. We even have 4 extended height options. I always recommend that my customers keep the dead hydraulics. Perhaps the car gets sold one day - like this thread suggests, then the owner can hand over a waterproof container with OEM mechanism parts and hoses for the new owner to install as desired.

You never know where a buyer might come from.

Dude! Thanks a lot! Emails picked way up today. Installed hood and frunk shocks and the center cap last night. Still some parts in the mail. At lunch I was about to pull the trigger on brakes and got an email with some serious interest as is. We'll see how it goes. Anymore changes are on hold until I know what the potential buyer wants to do.

All the input is much appreciated.

Bill - GLWS. I so desperately want a 996TT as I think it would be so much fun at the track (I am just getting into DE's and my 997 Targa is fun, but I really don't like the wear and tear on it). I logged in to Rennlist to see what you 996TT guys thought of this car for sale on the PCA site (https://www.pca.org/classified-ad/319197) but your car would be a better deal (and without the green interior).

I will have to noodle this and see if I can swing the finances...

Did you get an over rev report for this car?

On my PPI no, it wasn't included. When I bought the car 3 or so years ago it came with one, but honestly the limiters are there for a reason, 1st to 2nd comes one so fast, and even 2nd to 3rd is an exercise in patience. I'm not sure if the GAIC 1.0 Bar tune raises those limiters or not, or how it could have an affect on how the over rev report reads. This car has not been tracked, at least not with the last 2 owners, and between us, that's been 50 of the 70k miles, this car is reliable and a driver. So, with all that, if you are interested, I can talk to the shop about an over-rev report, I'll dig up and supply the last one and supply it, but I think it's moot.

So far in the list of stuff on my PPI, I have:
  • Replaced the center wheel cap!
  • I touched up the headlights last week with the Meguire's kit. It helped but a detailer would probably do a much better job.
  • Replaced Hood Frunk shocks
  • Bought new replacement visor vanity mirror
I'm prepared to order tires and have the shop install those, and do the accumulator, and I'll do the brakes myself, and I'll send the hydraulics to Kevin.

I'll give this a day for anyone still interested as is to contact me then I'm moving forward with the repairs. Thanks for the insight and interest.

An over-rev report is pretty standard when selling/buying a used 996 Turbo. The reality is that limiters dont prevent mechanical over revs due to miss shifts, missed gears, etc. So it may be moot to you, but most buyers will want to see this.

imo, you should fix the accumulator/slave cylinder issue. Parts all in is 400 or so dollars and a relatively easy afternoon under the car if you turn your own wrenches.

Understood that buyers want to see it, but it's silly. Anyway, I asked my mechanic, and he said he'd do it for free since buyers want it and he did a full PPI. But he said they never pull an over-rev if the car is running good, and that it was internet BS.
  • Accumulator and slave in the mail
  • Need to install front air-dam

Not really a big deal on these cars. You just read too much about it here. I could care less.

Incorrect. I have talked to several Porsche Mechanics about various used 911 Turbos, GT3s etc. and they all recommend taking a look at the DME.

I have spoken to a handful of interested buyers, but they were either trying to sell another to make room or not in the right place at the moment to make a solid offer.

I pulled the listing this morning, I've ordering tires and brakes for all 4 corners, I have a new accumulator in hand and will talk to Kevin about his fix and get it re-listed soon.

I care more on a gt3 than a turbo TBH. Odds are more favorable it's getting wound out alot or track time. Most turbos are barely used as intended. But to each their own.

In terms of use, what exactly does "as intended" mean?
