Is it surprising to anyone that Porsche has a 996 Turbo on display?

Yes, but now I’ll start charging people to walk in my garage.

It isn't really blind luck. The 996TT is where it is because the exhibition is about the evolution of the 911. The 996TT is featured because it is the first water fully water cooled mezger engine.

As Atrox wrote, we can now start charging people to look at our cars.

It is the first time a 996TT has been featured so prominently.

The article and the exhibition are about the 901, it nothing to do with evolution of the 911...

"and now you can come and view it. An exhibition called ‘911 (901 No. 57) – A legend takes off’ is running in the Museum from today (December 14) until April 8, 2018."

Yes, and the 901 is surounded by landmark examples of 911 evolution up to the present day and the 996TT is part of it. Sorry you not find that relevant or interesting.

Here's a picture I took back in 2009 of the 996 Turbo on display at the Porsche Museum.

Having the 996 Turbo on display is no surprise at all. It's not like Porsche considers the 996 Turbo a red headed step child that they are not proud of, keeping it off the display floor.

Damn right, we tend to forget it due to the stupid crap from the "eeewwww headlights" crowd, which is the same as the "eeewwww mpact bumpers" crowd in the air cooled world.
