It isn't really blind luck. The 996TT is where it is because the exhibition is about the evolution of the 911. The 996TT is featured because it is the first water fully water cooled mezger engine.

Yes, and the 901 is surounded by landmark examples of 911 evolution up to the present day and the 996TT is part of it. Sorry you not find that relevant or interesting.

Here's a picture I took back in 2009 of the 996 Turbo on display at the Porsche Museum.
Having the 996 Turbo on display is no surprise at all. It's not like Porsche considers the 996 Turbo a red headed step child that they are not proud of, keeping it off the display floor.

I was not lucky like you Dock! I went in 2012 and not a single 996 in the museum.... But I still enjoy my visit a lot!!!! Seing these 917-GT1-959 etc etc so close!!!!
