Default PS Pump valve cap

I seem to be missing this cap for what looks like a valve stem size connection on my PS pump. I'm looking to put something over it to keep crud out of there. Does it need to breathe / vent at all or will a rubber cap be just fine?

Well I'm rolling the dice and capping it, if I blow up we'll know that was the wrong call.

Just took a picture of my cap for you...

Looks like it might be designed to vent rather than seal completely. I don't see a separate part number for it on the PET fiche, perhaps your dealer can find the part number for a replacement.

It is a vent cap as pfbz shows. Early cars had a "hose to nowhere"

hmmm, may have to call LA dismantlers or something. Striking out finding one on the internet.

Thanks for the up-close view.

#16 on this Sunset Porsche Parts diagram? If so, maybe they have one in stock.

I think you're right Dock. What diagram did you use though? The ones I'm pulling up for an 03 turbo don't show that cap on their site.

I think I found it using the 997 diagram. Ordered part # 997-314-332-00.

It's from the Sunset Porsche Parts area of their website. I can't imagine that it's a different cap on the '03.

That looks like the right part number...

Might be easier to order from your local dealer (even though the'll likely charge $5 instead of $2) rather than deal with shipping.

My local dealer is Newport Porsche. If you're not buying a 918 they act like you are wasting their time. I'd rather pay the $6 in shipping and support the site that helped Doc and I find the part.
