Default iPhone mount

Used to stand it up in the ashtray. Since I'm loathe to do that now I got the center console all prettied up I was wondering what people were using.

I think I'd prefer an air vent mount over a screen one, but all my other cars have touchscreen nav systems so I'm not sure where to start or what works. It's a 6S, but I'm due an upgrade when the 8 comes out so I'd rather not buy two if there's something universal.

Suggestions?

I've tried everything I can think of, with the caveat that the phone must be in the field of view when driving.
Mine has leather everything (even air vents!), so a suction dash mount or vent mount aren't options. The cd-slot magnetic kind of work, but the one I tried makes it hard to see/operate the radio. Unfortunately the best I've found so far is a Ram windshield mount. It isn't pretty, but does the job.

I use spiderpodium. Nice thing about it is that you can use it everywhere.

Installed the rennline one. Works perfect. Discreet and blends in subtly imo
Holds the iPhone 7 with the Apple batt pack really well.

You're doing something wrong. The magnet is more than strong enough to hold any iphone. You are attaching the plate to the phone case as well right?

I was using a magnetic vent mount, the magnet was not strong enough even with the plate on the case. The Rennline one might be stronger?

+1 for magnetic mount. I have an iPhone 6 with the bigger otter case. First time I put the magnet on the phone (behind the case) it would not hold. Then moved the magnetic onto the case behind the rubber. Hasn't fallen off yet, and we don't have smooth roads around here.

I use an Aukey magnetic vent mount, works perfectly. Only concern I have is breaking the vent but worst case I buy a new one I guess.
