I don't know. I wouldn't pass on a good 2001 car if you find one.

If you want the 996.2 "stiffened" chassis it shows up in all Turbos built after 2/1/2001. So some 2001 cars have it. If you want a glove compartment then you have to buy a 2002. Small improvements were made as the years went on but I would take a quality low mileage early car over over a lesser newer car everytime.

Well the Chassis probably isn't as important to me, as I will just drive on the street more than likely. Would only track it if I can ever afford to lose a ton of money on value and maintenance.

Glove box would be nice to have but could live without it.

The hollow spoke wheels on 02 and up seems like a legit thing to want though ( less rotating mass ).

The 01 I found is in Great shape but has 63K miles. Awesome records and maintenance history. He's firm on his $46K price though. I'd prefer to pay less for an 2001.

What are thoughts on this car for that price????

If the car is in great shape and otherwise checks out, then I applaud his firm asking price.

This is interesting to me. Makes sense for why I found the tube in the rear seat area in my 01.. 3/29/01 build date

For the sake of values, I agree.

The car is not without fault though. Tires roar badly (rears - Kumos- not sure if 'truing" them would help...So tires may be needed. Michelins up front. mis matched is bad I hear.

But finding out about the differences in 01's vs newer, has be looking again. I would about to buy this car until I found out.

If he'd come down a bit, I'd be all over it.

Most 2001 model year cars have the hollow spoke twist wheels. Only the very early car have the slolids.

As for the asking price. It does seem a touch high for the mileage but I can not blame the seller for standing firm.

Yes. You have the 996.2 chassis. Enjoy.

Also if you ever have a seat belt replaced you will need the MY02 version.

What's the story with the under hood decal, is it a reprint or untouched original???
I know the second duplicate decal goes into the owners manual.

I question that to put the paper backing seems to be very discolored and brittle like it's the original.

Yes and I am torn as to what to do about this car. I have to make a decision soon .

Tires? A minor issue. Just consider the money you may put into new tires as already baked into the price he's asking.

If the car checks out and you like it, you'd really pass it up over $1-2k in asking price?

Condition and miles is far more important than year.
