Default Shipping Company Help!

Hi All,

Trying to get my new car shipped to me from NY. The original company we called hasn't been able to arrange a pickup in going on a week. I've also talked to other companies and am waiting for one of them to try to confirm a pickup - but so far nothing.

Any good recommendations? I want to get my car out here!

One company said it would take them 4 weeks to pickup the car - yech...

Thanks,

if enclosed...intercity, horseless carriage or angels moving autos, have good experience with each. if open I would post it on uship and you should have a bid within the hour.

Intercity wouldn't go to Staten Island - which I thought was really strange. They also want over 2k.

I'll try the others - definitely want to ship it enclosed.

4corners transport. It is a broker but I have had good luck with them the last couple of times.

Just be aware, it's virtually all brokers if you go on uShip, and they'll bid to win the contract and only then look for a trucker willing to meet the price they quoted you (minus their $150 broker fee). Then they'll come back with price increases and pickup delays. Ask me how I know.

Try and contact trucking companies directly if at all possible.

I used him with great success last week, 24 hrs / 300 miles in a monsoon

but like Teschweenie stated, it's all brokers

another member here uses them regularly too

VMS Lux Transport.
Based out of NJ.

Got my car from PA to MA, enclosed and what i felt was a fair price. Give them a call.

Was highly recommended to me by the main line dealerships.

Do you want piece of mind?

Fly to NY and drive it back.

IMO I would've just drove it home. If too much $$ for you what's wrong with open trailer hauling? You will be driving it outside, no?

I helped a guy in NYC close a deal on a Carrera 6-7 years ago. He flew to Los Angeles with a buddy and they drove home 3000 miles. He still calls it one of his best experiences...

Thanks guys! One of the companies finally called back and will be picking the car up on Monday.

With most of the classic cars I've owned, I did actually fly in and drive home - including my '74 Alfa Spider. It was a great experience - even when the clutch pedal dropped off as I sheared the clutch assembly. Try driving in LA traffic with no clutch pedal! I made it to a shop and didn't have a problem the rest of the trip.

This was my original thought with buying the turbo too - however, this time around I have a 9 month old and company to run. So, unfortunately, I can't get away to drive the car home. Believe me, I wish I could.

Thanks,
