Another would you swap your car thread...
So I saw that millionth Porsche a little while back. I liked it more than I should have - in fact I wish I'd never seen it.
I have a fetish for green Porkers. Like an unreasonable fetish. I've been looking for a 997TT for a while now, but they are unicorns.
I'm now thinking about ordering a PTS GTS in green with a stick, but I'd need to sell the TT or get a divorce that doesn't require me to pay maintenance to do it.
So I would need to sell the TT...
Other than depreciation and low end grunt is there a good reason that I wouldn't be happy?
I haven't driven a GTS, but did drive a 15 TT and a new 17 S back to back and the S was frankly underwhelming. The PDK S had awful lag when you floored it - it sat there for a half second before it did anything.
Caveat - I really do like the 6TT I have, but the interior is a bit dated, it's not especially practical as a weekend car and DDing it would destroy any value it has. I also have something else cramped, fast, smelly and noisy as a toy.

I have been thinking about the same thing.
I have test drives lined up in 991.1 Carrera S X51 and a 991.2 Carrera S. From what I have heard the 991.2 Carrera S has the same punch of a 996TT/996 GT2 with much better handling and everyday usability.
I would love hear what others think.

Don't do it. I drove a 2013 991 S with 7 speed. I was not impressed at all. The car felt bloated. My X50 has way more power that the 991. And besides, the dealer was asking in the low 70's...not worth it IMO.

I feel you. I'm a huge fan of Irish Green, and PTS is the only thing that could ever convince me to buy a new Porsche.
If I bought a new 911 it would be a Targa 4 GTS. I priced one up the other day and it came up to $160k, and that's with a lot of restraint choosing options. For that money, one can buy a pristine 996tt and a 997 GT3. So I guess I'll never buy a new Porsche.

The only car thats similar to the 996 I feel is the 997, 991 are so much more refined, and even a 997.2 turbo with a pdk that ive driven is miles more insulated than my car, really depends on what youre looking for in driving experience I think.

Drive the car(s) you are considering and get or keep the one you like best (the one that delivers the driving experience you are looking for). Don't worry about depreciation.
