200 mph in a 6.2GT3
Hi,
my 996.2 GT3 got barely any mods. The drivetrain is completely factory standard. But I am always amazed how fast this 14 years old thing can go. I have owned it for three years now and, next to driving it on the Nürburgring, I actually enjoy driving it on the German Autobahn. I would consider myself an experienced high speed driver. I have driven several cars and many hours very fast in my life, i.e., north of 230kph (143mph). However, the Porsche is the first of my cars that I have not manage to max out yet. I hit 320kph (199mph) twice last Sunday morning but it would have still gone faster if I had continued to push (needless to say this was completely legal)
Enjoy!
Marcus
PS: please spare me any comments about the "check" light - the left cat is broken and will be replaced soon

Bottom line anything over 150mph is fast.

My car is about 10mph optimistic at ~150 mph. Passengers at track days always comment "We saw like 155 on the straight back there"...when in reality GPS data shows 143-144.
None the less...that's moving and I'm pretty jealous we can't do that here in the states!

I had my GPS device with me but forgot to turn it on. Didn't want to fiddle around with it while driving. So, yes, this might have been true 190mph instead of 199mph. As said, I could have pushed further... next time.
