As a couple members already said, in the comments the seller (and the original owner chimed in too) said the motor is original. How to verify?

have a contact in Deutschland or maybe PCNA????
send them VIN.
ask them to research.
unlikely that typical customer facing documentation in 2004 listed engine / transaxle S/N's.
I don't think that era PCars had component S/N tied to VIN, unlike american muscle.
Though body panels were certainly tied to VIN.

Simple, if you have a 996 GT3,
check your VIN
Check your engine S/N
Check your Transaxle S/N
Look for correlation.

you can go to Suncoast and buy the build sheet for $10 which shows the VIN, motor serial, and cluster serial.

The certificate of authenticity shows the VIN and the original engine code, which is stamped on the engine block. From what I understand it is not uncommon for cars to have replacement engines, so it only 'matters' if you want it to. If you have concerns about the motor, a compression test should help to give a better idea as to its health.

I contacted PCNA a while back when purchasing my car (inquiring about the background info for the engine code) and they weren't as willing to help as I was hoping.

Another really nice example at Copley West in speed yellow with 31k miles for $115k. Prices are really moving on these.

Show Low, AZ. isn't that the same location as the Carrera Cup 964 that just sold? i assume the same seller sold/is selling both.
very cool opportunity.

How good is this auction? As far as bidder qualifications... Because that price seems very high. I don't mind that price if that's where the market is...

The way the rest of the 996 market is going, it only made sense for this to happen eventually. Happy to see these finally getting recognition in-kind.
