At the end of the day, the car is a 1 owner, low mileage, very low production number color.

given this sold at traditional auction, and both buyer and seller had to pay a significant premium, this was both a very expensive GT3, and a cheap one (realized price by seller).

no wonder BaT is killing it.

In March 2005, this GT3 was sent to RAC Performance, an authorized distributor for RUF cars, parts, and accessories in Carrollton, Texas, where it received an RGT engine conversion. The 3.6-liter M96/79 flat-six was enhanced with a modified induction system, new camshafts, sportier exhaust, and remapped electronic control unit resulting in a manufacturer-claimed 395 hp and 300 lbs./ ft. of torque. Other installed RUF embellishments included an Alcantara steering wheel, shift ****, and more aggressive RGT front bumper.
Good point, aside from guys that like me who are suckers for everything 996 RUF era

What's the premium at a place like that?

At least by the sale price, that car went dirt cheap IMO. Not a RUF VIN but enough work was done that it might as well be at that point.

If anyone ever required evidence of how well optimized these cars were from the factory, consider that all those Ruf mods only netted a claimed 10 hp!

Buyer pays a 12% premium above hammer price: $128,800 + $15,456 = $144,256 (plus any other fees/taxes)

Gooding doesn't disclose the Seller's premium, but for a no-reserve listing it's probably on the order of 10% (if anyone knows the real number, I'd be interested), so:

$128,800 - $12,880 = $115,920 net to seller (minus any other fees/taxes), so Gooding's cut = $15,456 + ~$12,880 = $28,336 (or ~22% of the actual hammer price).

At BaT that would be $99 from seller (basic listing): 128,800 - $99 = $128,701 net to seller, and $5,000 buyer premium, so $128,800 + $5,000 = $133,800 net to buyer.

Net to BaT: $5,099, or 3.95% of the hammer price... That's why BaT is the new auction king and lists ~70 cars per day, several now in the super-premium category that used to only take place at the biggies. (AKA Disruption).

Anyone know what this car sold for at The Quail Auction? (It's currently only listed as "sold")

https://www.bonhams.com/auction/2750...c29944s692461/

Edit: Looks like $130k according to another site.

^^^^^^ That's a nice car with great options. Full leather, "large" carbon package, embroidered center console. Present really clean too (3 owners is pretty rare for these as well).

i'd consider that a glaring oversight on bonhams' part. they should proofread the listings better than that.

i'm not sure the buyer's of this car would have considered RUF upgrades, installed at RAC, a modded car really (in a negative way). they were the US distributor/installer of RUF products - no issues there. i say it might be a wash to a buyer.
