Turbo GT3 - has anyone done this ?
Hi All, has anyone on this forum added a pair of turbos to a GT3? Would be curious to read about it (I did a few searches, but came up short)

I saw a rsr twin turbo'd in a PRC race at Sears. I think he qualified 4-5th and at end won the race. The 2nd place cupcar was almost a lap down. 25 min race. Mike

There's got to be motivation to do this like building something to class regulations for racing, or the desire to really have something totally unique.
Cause otherwise buy a GT2 and be done with it.

Thanks for the answers all, I have seen the Pike Peak cup car, sounds wild !!
I guess I already have a GT3 996.2, so the option of a GT2, or TT is not desirable for me.
The GT3 engines are supposed to have the titanium rods and valves, so I thought they would be an interesting candidate for turbocharging. Also the engine is well over engineered, designed to rev to 8200rpm, so my thinking is with turbos making huge torque in the mid range, it could end up being a very potent combination that would not need to rev all the way to redline.
Was hoping there was a member that had done this and could share their experiences

There was one Evoms built for a guy in AZ that raced Vipers IIRC. It was silver with OZ's and had a GT850 sticker on only one side. Excellence had an article about in 2008/2009 if I recall.

Unless its a salvage car, sell and buy a GT2...get ready to cut bodywork for intercoolers and spend $ on engine build... stock Ti rods no good, compression wrong, etc...IMHO, financially way better off buying a 6tt beater and go full build...

PM Markski, I believe Protomotive used a GT3 engine in his 996TT build

You're looking at a 996 GT2 then, no? I know one can argue the nuances of the M96.76/79 vs the M96.70 (SL), but you're far better off picking up a GT2 with the intercooling etc. plumbed right in the first place.
